This is very strange to me. It even apparently extended to the guy he was with who said nope. There is definitely some info missing here. Maybe even your wife is missing some info. Heck, the vendors must be missing some info. Someone, or maybe everyone, is missing something. This is basically the equivalent of me walking into Walmart, going to the electronics counter and the guy opening up with Im not selling to you, *******.

Even in these trying times, this is highly irregular.
Being both a buyer and seller at shows, the only thing I can possibly figure is that the seller thought she was setting up a straw purchase?

My guess is that the vendor is just naturally an *******. Also, I'm betting his sales were sucking wind and he thought she probably worked for a competitor and was getting info so they could undercut him.
Pure speculation on my part, though.

Last gun show I went to I asked a vendor that had nothing but AR uppers, lowers and barrels if he happened to have a 6x45 barrel. He said no, I said thanks anyways and turned around. He then said to another person, do you believe that ****ing stupid idiot wanting some barrel for an unknown caliber. At that point I turned around and said do you really expect to do much business insulting customers. He replied you don't have any money to buy anything anyways, so **** off. I replied you sure wont find out now and I am sure anyone else listening will not let you know either.

So, I can see how it would happen. Now days I think more than ever we need to start taking people out behind the woodshed more.

I’ve quit going to gun shows, and I avoid mom & pop gun shops and public ranges because of attitudes like this too.
Say what you will about Cheaper Than Dirt, but I miss their retail stores. Everybody there was pleasant to deal with every time I went.
I’ve found the people at the big box stores are more pleasant to deal with as well. I do my research up front so it doesn’t bother me that they’re not the most knowledgeable about guns.

Would be interesting to get MikeKs perspective on this, if he ever came back.

Anymore, I avoid a number of small mom & pop shops around here too. Their prices are usually out of line, on everything, and they seem to be grumpy as hell when you go in, and definitely have an attitude when you talk to them.

One boy I talked to, and even though hes a supporter, blames it on Trump. He said business has been way down since hes been in office. Obama and the threat of Hillary, were much better for business.

Maybe thats part of it. Internet sales is another issue too I think. Business is off, and they are taking it out on those who do, or at least used to, support them in the past.

When I grocery shop I often jot down prices/sizes of items I buy regularly (to determine which stores have the best prices on items I stock up on). I've done this for years with no problem, most people would just assume it's my shopping list. So I was a bit shocked one day when an obviously angry store manager walked up to me and loudly demanded to know what I was doing. I explained, at which point he apologized and told me that "undercover" employees from other grocery stores would frequently check prices at his store so they could undercut his prices.
Perhaps that's what this vendor thought your girlfriend was doing.

Just a thought. (Not that that excuses his behavior. )

Dang that's uncanny. There used to be an old curmudgeon that worked in the electronics dept at the local wal-mart. Was always an ass, wouldn't help you for **** & in electronics you often need them to get into the cases. Then wal-mart announced it was closing down it's old store & opening up 2 new super wal-marts. I was hoping he'd go to the one on the other side of town. Well that's just not my luck. Had to put up for him for a few more years until he was finally gone, don't know if he died, retired or got murdered. He must've been related to someone cause he never got fired & his attitude never got any better. I'm usually an ******* too, but I don't work in retail & rarely have. I don't know why it's so hard to believe someone at a gun show was an ass, even one of the vendors. Most of the ones I've tried talking to the last 1/2 dozen or shows act like they don't have time to be bothered. ****-em.

I can only assume he wasn't aware the 6x45 has been in existence since 1965. Granted, it's a wildcat cartridge but then again, it's not "unknown". Dude reminds me of a dealer at a show in PHX. POS Garand. I pointed out a few things I was concerned with. He got all belligerent with me and screamed "you don't know what you're talking about. It's certified by Duff!" I simply laughed and said "then show me the letter". There was no letter to be produced.

I walked away laughing.

In my area, gunshows are typically overpriced (as I'm sure most are in other areas). I've had a go-to FFL for 2 years and save so much as a result. Writing down prices is a good idea. If the seller didn't like it, it's his loss of a sale. If your lady was taking pictures though, that'd be a different story.

Says something about where this country is headed when “men” feel free to curse at women in public (and “women” on TV use the F-word like it’s going out of style).

If I go to a gun show, it is to find a FTF deal
Why waste time with a local retailer when you can just go there any day they are open?????
I will take the O/P at face value
I would avoid vendor except, knowing my passive aggression, I would have tried to kill a couple deals with comments about the fact that he is a colossal wanker

You go to gun shows with what, 10 dealers?

The large shows around here (Pittsburgh) have dealers from out to 300 miles away.

Not that anything would come of it, but at the very least you might consider informing the gun show director/host...

You sure there wasn't an eye roll or nose turn with the "just writing this down" response? I just can't see anyone being an ass like that without cause.

Typical lawyer non-reply.
I should have figured.
I guess people in your state only buy used guns from each other...
