Default Girlfriend cursed out by vendor at Bowling Green Ohio Gun show

Advertise Here

My girlfriend was writing the price and location of an item to buy at a vendors booth, it had brass in the name on a sign above it. The vendor asked what she was doing, she replied "just writing this down". He told her "don't be an (word starts with f) (word starting with A) hole". She looked at him and asked "so you don't want to sell things today?" A guy behind him said "nope" Then the first guy says " not to a piece of ( "word starts with s") like you".

So she crosses out what she had started to write and moves on to the table where I am at and tells me. I instantly want to go over and she tells me something that I hope happens. She said " if you make a scene people will stop at their table out of curiosity and they might make extra sales, let them just naturally treat people bad, because they are not very nice or smart. Letting them driving away customers on their own is their own personal justice."

We write things down so we can remember the price and place at the end of show so we can go back and buy instead off carrying everything the whole show. We wanted to buy from them but now never, we average buying $800 dollars a show sometimes more but very rarely less.

If he had talked to my wife like that, he would have been on the receiving end of a good old country a** whipping!

I turned to do it when she asked me not to and mentioned the above. She was laughing at them at that point so I deferred to her wishes. ( now if it was one of our children different story. It would be vendors go to hospital, gunshow attendee to jail tonight on news 5.)

I quit going to gun shows years ago. Waste of time and money.

Around here its the same couple of groups putting them on a couple of times a year, and the same people at the tables, and with a number of them, they have the same exact crap on the tables that they had on them back in the 90's.

Prices are generally a joke. About the only time, you might get a deal, is from someone walking around with something with a sign on it you just gotta have. Which doesnt happen to often.

I dont doubt the sellers are just as disgusted as the buyers, and why the attitudes.

Sounds like you have inadequacy issues stemming from your love of the "mini" 14.

To the OP.
Smart girl you got there. The POS vendor ain't worth you getting locked up.

I believe the OP. Have had a few vendors at shows in PHX act like that. I've had no problem calling them out. Some vendors are just natural defecation orifices and wonder why they aren't making any sales.

In my experience, gun show vendors who are generally *******s are the norm rather than the exception. There are a few who buck the trend, but they're in the minority

I've come across some ******* vendors here in NW Arkansas and at the big Tulsa Wannamaker gun show. Ten dollars to get in and ridiculously high prices for common guns...that's why I don't go to gun shows any more.

I enjoy my local shows. If you find something you want you can leave with it. I like to go so I can cash and carry out items. I print ammo prices, and ask if the vender can get close when he isnt busy. They are more apt to deal when you dont have several other bottom feeders wanting in on your barter.

My range puts on a couple of them a year and you get in free with membership.

Going hands on in the showroom, is a good way to get shot. Here you are not supposed to CC in the show, while the vendor's and security can.

Do I yes, but its my deep cary, I have seen overt CC escorted out.

I wish this were true. At the start of the 90s I could get a surplus SKS for $75.00 or a new one for $85.00. A case of 1200 rounds of real NORINCO steel core was under $100.00 NORINCO 9mm was the hottest 9mm around for less than $100.00 a case of 1000 unless you got a hold of a case of L7A1 for a bit more. After the Soviet Union fell I would get Ulyanovsk and Barnaul or Klimovsk 7.62x39 for $60.00 a thousand round case when buying 10 or more cases. Was only $70.00 a case if you only got 1-9 cases. Still pretty cheap.

Id drive half way across the country for 90s prices. Id be going to every show out of my way every week and the local ones if gunshows were still at 90s prices. Heck, you could get AK47 clones cheaper than them ****ty PSA M4 clone rifles cost today. AK mags were priced so low they were pretty much free.

So... Here’s what I’m getting. A woman walks up to a counter at a gun show and looks at the merchandise. She starts writing something down and the guy just randomly starts telling her she’s a piece of **** and an *******?

What part of the story am I missing?

For some time now gun shows have been almost made up of retail store booths anyway. It's like when some car dealership moves all his cars to the mall parking lot. You aren't getting any better prices, you aren't going to get any better service all your getting is an even more crowded parking lot. It would nice to see gun shows go back to mainly smaller dealers, a few local shops that are forced to offer real sales to be competitive, people actually trading/haggling, oh and actual demonstrations & seminars. Probably won't be back in my lifetime if ever.

This has been my experience as well. But as far as the OP, I'm not very partial to somebody talking to my wife like that but maybe there is something missing in this story, or even if not, remember where you are..a gun show. Going to jail is one thing but getting shot while being the aggressor in the moment is another.. and you'll still go to jail if u make it. It would boil my blood and I would probably try to do something to affect their business, but angry confrontations should probably be left out of the equation. Although I would be petty enough to antagonize them by putting up a sign that says "lower prices/ better service than that guy" or something of the sort. At least that way if they come over angry they are the aggressor and u did nothing but write words on a sign.

That is the mystery, he went off on her for no reason. He might of had a bad day or she looked like someone he knew, we don't know. Maybe I did something before I walked to the next table and she stayed back writing it down and got the attitude that was for me, but we don't know why.

Might have > Might of

This is very strange to me. It even apparently extended to the guy he was with who said nope. There is definitely some info missing here. Maybe even your wife is missing some info. Heck, the vendors must be missing some info. Someone, or maybe everyone, is missing something. This is basically the equivalent of me walking into Walmart, going to the electronics counter and the guy opening up with Im not selling to you, *******.

Even in these trying times, this is highly irregular.

What you say is true, if you tell anyone in the family or that knows me what happened, they would have said it was me starting something but it happened after I walked to the next vendors table. She walked over to me and told me what happened.
What ever the slight or insult he perceived from me or her should have been treated different. That's all I am saying.
I do know she gets treated different at the gun shows when I am not around.
She bought her 45-70 from some older guys who keep telling her she would hurt her shoulder and never shoot it a second time. I walked up after going to the bathroom and told her I was ready, they asked if it was for me I said no I want a 357 lever. They did the exchange and we left, on the way home she asked that I be with her from now on when she buys.
