What are your thoughts about bugging out or in when SHTF? How hard was it to decide where you would go or what you would do and why. I personally moved out of the city because it wasn't exactly safe in a none SHTF SCENARIO. I can't imagine the pandemonium that is going to ensue. I'm not asking details here just what you decided on and why. Is it just you..family...more? Again what made you choose this? I'm just trying to see what people's opinions are.

Failing health of some family members and lack of $$$$$$$$$ made the decision for us.

Even though I live in a very urban area. I plan to bug in, and hunker down. If you leave, you are a refugee. Not a good position to be in. Besides, that is where all of your resources will be.

I am in the same boat. However we did buy our home in a much nicer neighborhood than where we previously lived. Also we live extremely close now to a good friend of over 25 years that is also a prepper. If we have to Bug Out we all have a Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C. All with alternate routes. Of course this is only if we really had to Bug Out. We do have multiple BOL's (With roofs and abundant water sources). We know how to hunt, fish, and trap however we know not to count on that to keep our bellies full and have some food preps and heirloom seeds there as back up.

Tips if you are planning on Bugging In in a Urban area I recommend having the following:
Dog(s)
Plenty of Water Storage
Plenty of Food
Sanitation Supplies
Wool Blankets (We live in Minnesota after all)
Firearms with plenty of Ammunition
Level III Body Armor (Recommend Spartan AR500)
Fuel (For cooking and if you need to Bug Out Gasoline for your vehicle)
Batteries
Security Items (Door Stops, Wire and Jingle Bells, Gorilla Tape & Trash bags to black out windows, etc)

I don't see a SHTF scenario unless some angry people burn a police station or something like that. Otherwise, it seems like this country just keeps rolling along.

Just what is this S that has HTF? Where are you? What is happening? Where would you go? Everything is different for everyone.

If a train carrying toxic chemicals derails near you, bug out. If someone nukes DC (2000 miles away) stay put. If a rabid biker gang moves in next door, bug out. If California falls into the ocean (4000 miles away) stay put. If the economy collapses and your dollars aren't worth spit and police aren't coming to work because they're not being paid, why would you go anywhere? It's the same wherever.

Unless where you are is uninhabitable, stay. If you'll die if you stay, go. And have a place to go before you start out, otherwise you're just a refugee.

Bugging in for a SHTF or TEOTWAWKI situration unless it's something like what BabyBlue mentioned like train with toxic chemicals (we are close to some tracks). If that's the case, it will be short term so we'd be able to find a friend or stay at a hotel for a week or two while clean-up goes on.

If it's the alien zombie ebola invasion...bugging in. We're in a very small town and a pretty good distance from any major metro areas.

I will bug out only if staying is a bigger risk than going.

How hard was it to decide where you would go or what you would do and why.
It was not difficult at all. Made a list of possibilities and then decided which one was suitable for different situations after checking them out.

I personally moved out of the city because it wasn't exactly safe in a none SHTF SCENARIO. I can't imagine the pandemonium that is going to ensue. I'm not asking details here just what you decided on and why. Is it just you..family...more?
Several people.

Again what made you choose this?
I plan to do what ever keeps me safe and intact.

I'm just trying to see what people's opinions are.
Just my opinion.
