I'm just curious what other prepper groups there are around my area of middle TN. I'm already networked with a great group of folks, but am curious if there are otheres and if they network with each other or are mainly isolated.

I've found a great like minded group of people. Have the rest of you grouped up or are you hoping to survive as a lone wolf.

I am torn between the two options. It is not easy to trust anyone, although it would be much safer in a group. On the other hand, being solitary could make it easier to be invisible; if necessary.

Marshall Co. with a few, close, like-minded neighbors.
MY sense is that it's going to take a larger community of informed people who have varied skill sets, resources, and knowledge in order to weather a long term event. That being said, I believe you have to be careful who you talk to and divulge what assets you have put aside for your own family.
Over the last 10-15 years I have been in a position to meet lots of people and two things really stand out. First, is how many people don't have a clue what may be coming down the road and how quickly things could go down hill.
Secondly, and most surprisingly, is how many people do see the potential dangers ahead and have done some preparation or just beginning to prepare. I've found most preppers are cautious about what and who they talk about, but in a general conversation you can put out a subtle feeler that sometimes tips off like minded folks that you are on the same page. It's always worth a try.
The most difficult thing I've encountered is convincing family and many friends of the necessity to prepare. Most think I'm over reacting to some imaginary problem that could never happen. That the "government" would take care of them during a catastrophe. Even had a relative say that "that's what FEMA is for". LOL
Bottom line. This is a great site to make connections. That's why I just joined and welcome any comments and associations, especially in this area of southern middle Tn.

One final comment. We have a valuable resource in the Mennonite communities around here. If you are fortunate enough to get to know these folks, you will find them friendly and willing to show you some basic skills you'll need. After all, they have been self sufficient for generations.

Middle TN for me, in the maury/marshall county area. Thats about as close as I'm willing to nail down my location to non-locals. For those knowing the area, I'm real close to a school named after a general.

I'm not interested in joining any groups right now for a couple reasons.
1. I'm already aligned with a few folks.
2. Had a bad experience a few years ago with meeting an internet "buddy" who was unbalanced in person.

May change my mind about meeting like minded folks in the future, but my current group would have to approve anything that may affect them.
