Sounds like a plan. I grew up in NE MN and SW MN. Same state, completely different geography. Got to love MN.

In Central MN for about 9 years now. Have land down South and in another couple of years (if my employer doesn't 'help' move things along) we'll be there. Last Winter was just frigging BRUTAL.

So. Central Minnesota here. Land of soybeans, corn fields, and prairie. Lived here the last 3/4 of my life. Born up in Duluth. Love Minnesota.

Twin Cities, born and mostly raised; two years in Illinois as a young child and two school years in Alexandria. If I was an optimist, I'd plan to retire to somewhere on the North Shore, but 1) I'll probably never be able to afford to retire and 2) even if I did, property up that way will be far beyond my means by then. Instead, I just have to settle for a couple hiking trips each year, and maybe some actual camping.

Sig. Other and I were both born and raised here and now have a 1 year old to prep for as well. We're finally in a financial place where we can start our planning. I work in Bloomington and the southern suburbs, Sig. Other works in the northern suburbs.

Pig's Eye Born and Raised. Can't stand Minneapolis! Sadly St. Paul is becoming more and more like it. So we will be "bugging out" early next year and finding a new home further away from the cities. Don't get me wrong there are many things I love about St. Paul but it just seems like every neighborhood is going down hill fast (except Grand Ave.).

Been White-Tail Deer hunting up in the Northwest (Bemidji) since 2000.

Travel to Northshore a lot and may start hunting that area as family owns some land and a cabin in the area. Just like Inazone we would also like to retire up along the Northshore but will never be able to afford it

May have to just settle with having our ashes tossed in the lake.

Ok I just broke OPSEC but whatever...

I like the N St Paul area. For 9/11 I will do everything the same way I always do. Got a bob in car, plenty of supplies at home. Prob stay away from malls and such for a few days jic.

Welcome.

And get the heck out of the cities!!! Ahh!!!

Plenty of land North of you on the very cheap right now. Mille Lacs county has a nice assortment of it but you pay a bit higher taxes. But they have PLENTY of water, good soil and a low population. But you probably know all this.

Stay the hell out of the Princeton area. Whackado's by the 1000's..... Hated that area.

Central Minnesota here, too, all my life. I love all the open country in central and northern Minnesota, but I don't know if I can put up with too many more winters like last year (Farmer's Almanac says this one will be worse). Wouldn't mind being somewhere warmer...

Yeah - last Winter was brutal. We've got land South and are making plans of moving there sooner than later.
