I had them once...no, twice.
But they didn't come from FL. Both young ladies were Virginians.

I made a bike trip to FL once. No windjammer. I caught one just above my shades and I'd swear it was at least a .50 caliber. And they will screw up a paint job if you don't wash the bike every day.

They have a bug around lake Erie called a sand fly (caddis fly) that is much worse.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Buffalo/com...azy_this_year/

Small mothlike bugs whose guts must be a mixture of superglue and acid.

They emerge by the trillions for a short time of the year. Especially during dusk.
I rode my bicycle for a few hours and had bugs up my nose, in my eyes and hair, everywhere. Horrible little things.
They will take the paint right off your hood, no problem.

Sarasota area has had the damn things since mid march and getting worse. Just like the damn Yankees- make a mess, leave, then come back and do it again.
