When you make multiple contacts with the same ham, should you send multiple qsl cards? If it is differant bands should you? And should you if it is the same band? Thanks in advance. I am filling out cards, as i am a bit behind...about 70 spanning 6 months... and am doing them today.

In theory you would send a card for each contact. But since you collected contacts over a period of time and cards are not what they once were you could consolidate multiple contacts on one card. I assume you also did some electronic records such as LoTW?

It totally depends on what you want to get out of QSL collecting.

If you just want to have a record that you contacted someone, just one card will do. If these are local comms made on an HT but more than one band a single card might be good enough. But if you are working towards something band specific, like Worked all Bands / Single Band WAZ/WAS, or something like that, then you may want a record of each band worked. Also, a person who is grid hopping or mobile during a contest, you might want a card from each grid they activate.

In general I would say a single card per band or per location, per station, except for local comms, then a single card per station.

I personally do not do the card thing, this is not a reflection of that aspect of the hobby, I just don't care to have the cards. I have my log book, and often recordings, so I know if I worked that rare DX station or not. However, I do answer every unique (new) card I receive with a card. I may not care to do cards, but other people do, so if they take the time to send me a card I respond.

T!

I did not even think of location, First Tolken.

Also, yes, I do eQSL and LOTW.

Thank for the ideas... In the age we are in now, you just don't intentionally go somewhere other Hams are... like the old parts store, and be able to ask silly questions that you just don't know the answer too. To be honest, I could simply have asked my ham club, but there are a new hams here that, in the long term, could use this answer too...

And I can say, any QSL I have received has gotten one back. Common courtesy and such. Still need to get mine sent out to Barbados, though.
