Exclamation Petition for national security

Advertise Here

Listen everybody, your town square isn't the middle of town anymore. Our nation's capital has NO business being on the eastern seaboard next to an ocean. I just started a petition on the White House website to move the nation's capital to the middle of the country, near Kansas City, Missouri...specifically- Independence, Missouri (fitting, huh?) We need 100,000 signatures within 30 days for a response from the White House. Besides being a bolster to national security, it will create thousands of jobs and boost our economy. Please sign the petition and pass the link on. Thanks.

We have the largest pockets of liberals grouped on the west coast and northeast, and you want to move them to the heartland? No, I don't think so.

Washington DC isn't beachfront property, you do know that, right?
If you're in DC and want to go to the beach you'll be driving for quite a while.

Personally I wouldn't give a **** if that den of vipers got washed away

Let me see - you want to move the WH, the capitol bldg, the Pentagon, ALL the alphabet agencies, the ENTIRE government to MO?
All I can say is you've got a 3 day weekend and it's 4:30 on Saturday afternoon, you might want to pace yourself a little bit better.

It'll create thousands of jobs in the place it moves to, sure. But it'll destroy thousands of jobs in the current location. You aren't solving that problem, you're just moving it.

Your first 2 sentences are a red herring. How does a small town square relate to the location of the Nation's Capitol?

By this logic, we need to relocate the Capitols of WA, OR, CA, WY, KS, WI, NY, FL, VA and more since they are not in the center of their states.

And FYI, creating Government jobs does NOT help the economy, especially short-term contract jobs. You're simply re-allocating tax dollars.

RE: Security, just to match the current security level, you would have to relocate FOUR AFB to include Andrews, Langley, Bolling and Dover.

Not to mention proximity of all the IC HQs.

Finally, central MO has a VERY large concentration of Minuteman missile silos, which have always been considered a first strike target.

You sure you thought this out?

Our country doesn't need to be ran by looney liberals any longer. The heartland is EXACTLY where our capital should be. Misery loves company and the DC area is about as miserable as it can get anymore. Liberals aren't going to move to the heartland because the capital is there. And if they do, maybe they would soon realize that their twisted views are only popular in their circles, not the way the rest of the country feels. Exactly the reason Trump was elected POTUS.

Yeah, unfortunately it's looong overdue. So overdue that it's now about a two decade long project.

The creation of the thousands of jobs isn't the main benefit nor reason for the call to action. As I stated, it's a matter of national security. The creation of jobs is an added benefit. Besides the thousands of jobs created in the place it moves to, you also will have created the thousands of jobs for the new build itself. Washington D.C. turns into a national park and museum along with the jobs that go along with it. When GE or Whirlpool closes a factory and sends it to Mexico, the towns that rely so heavily upon them don't vaporize. Surely they will also still exist if the jobs stay within our borders a half dozen states away. Is their a perfect solution? Absolutely not. Does that mean we ignore the most pressing issue of them all? I think not.

The town square relates because that's why the capital was located where it was to begin with, the central point of the population it served. And no, we DON'T need to move all the state capitals because they have nothing to do with National Security. Or their own states security to any degree for that matter. And after moving the rest of DC and everything involved, moving four AF bases and the thousands of enlistees that go where they are told to go anyway shouldn't really be much of an issue. And finally, the nation's capital has been, and always will be, THE number one first strike target, regardless of where it's at. Let's just make it a little harder to access.

Interesting factoid: Later Roman emperors preferred to live in Ravenna on the north coast of the Adriatic. Rome itself had become too foul a nest, so they only went there for formal occasions. Ravenna became the legal capital in 402, partly because, being built on piles and fill in a literal swamp, it was more easily defended. (Think Venice.) But by that time the Empire had only 70 years to go.

But the White House, the Capitol Building, the Pentagon, and the Department of Homeland Security would be a GREAT start.

But as far as jobs......just take a look at the list of the richest counties in the USA. Most of them are clustered around Washington, DC. Money goes there and never leaves.

So by your logic the reason so many liberals are in government is because the seat itself is located in a place where many liberals live. You seem to be under the impression by moving the government away from that location, it will somehow guarantee no liberals will ever work within, or hold a position of power in that government again. FAIL

Gotta say this is one of the silliest ideas I've ever seen.

If the SB liberals want the OP's hide nailed to the wall I'm inclined to let them have their fun.

I think the majority of the posters have hit the nail on the head.

Moving the capital might just be the...

I'll leave it alone. This does nothing but inflate the money we spend so a few can feel good about "security" without having a real understanding of how anything works.
