Take it for what its worth. I found it being passed around on Facebook.

Quote:
The following information has been sourced thoroughly. This particular soldier said that while he was not really thrilled about the assignment to Egypt, it was better than the soldiers that remained at the military base BECAUSE THEY HAD JUST RECEIVED THEIR DEPLOYMENT ORDERS TO GO TO SYRIA. That certainly contradicts the posturing and false reassurances and table-pounding of Obama and Kerry, does it not?

It's not true as far as I know. I know we do have units that would other wise be deploying to Afghanistan (But that are not now) going to areas around Syria for peace keeping operations. But so far no one is being sent to Syria.

Also keep in mind we have always had troops in that area, right now their numbers are just being boosted a bit in what I think is a show of force.

Keep in mind how ever I'm just an enlisted man so take what I'm saying for what it's worth.

Nothing new... they have been deploying troops there regularly for years.

Google "Multinational Force & Observers". Now all of a sudden people hear about it and start jumping to ridiculous conclusions.

I can't imagine the Egyptian military sent out invitations... nor will they take kindly to (what was that? 400 or 800 troops?) setting up housekeeping in their country.

Syria, on the other hand, I half expected something like this to happen.

IF any of it is true.

My oldest Son did a one year tour with the Multi-National Peace Keeping Force in the Sinia back in the mid-90's. He enjoyed it. That unit has been there for more than 20 years.

They cancelled this year's Bright Star because of the unrest in Egypt.

I'll bet that undecided Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq is looking pretty darned attractive to this administration right about now. Never mind that half of the bad guys we fought in Anbar came in via Syria to begin with...

No ****! I spent 9 ****ty months up at Waleed on the Syrian/Iraqi border and we saw people daily that we KNEW were bad and they even popped on the BATS system and they were just like .... let em go.. "But Sir this dude was a GENERAL with the Republican Guard" Ya well we don't really have any interest in him now..

2 weeks later the same guy was wanted for murder of an entire family.

I posted it so I could get others, who would actually know, to give their opinions. I also related that it was being passed around Facebook AND to take it for what it was worth. I didn't present it as credible.......merely something to discuss. It has been debunked, and if you look....I've thanked the ones who debunked it.

Don't be a Richard.

Don't know about the Army, but I can tell you from first hand knowledge that there are multiple Marine units being deployed from Camp Pendleton to that "area" as we speak. Now, whether it was pre-planned or just rotation I couldn't tell you.
FYI- there already IS and has been a contingent of Marines floating off shore Syria. This was reported weeks ago so none of this should be a surprise to anybody.

Also, a few months ago when North Korea was saber rattling, I knew of a Marine unit deploying to that area... that is SOP and just what the Marines do.

The marines there from what I heard are normal marines. If they attack they will be wanting special teams for directing air and naval fire, rescuing any downed aircrew etc. If they want an operation with normal marines, they'll need more than 300.

I understand your point but here is how it works...
All those "normal" infantry Marine units already have an FAO- forward air observer or Air liaison officer- (who is a pilot that does a tour and is assigned to each battalion)... they are experts in calling in airstrikes because they fly and do it themselves. Recon, scout / snipers, tanks, armor, etc are all "attached" to a Marine infantry company and under the command of said infantry company commander. Conversely, you can have an infantry platoon attached to a tank company or battalion. Attachments are made as the mission dictates.

This site has been flooded with emotional lies and misrepresentation and it gets worse every week.

Somehow the MFO which was put in place after the last Egypt/Isreal (in 1974) go round to keep the Sinai from being militarized by either country turns into syria deployments

Does anybody who links this crap ever leave their own house??
