Default henry AR-7 mods

Just got a new gun for x-mas a Henry AR-7 US survival rifle.

Waited to post on it because i was busy modding it out. Had to reformat my compy so lost my photo editing programs so forgive the quality

First thing, I put about 50 feet of paracord on it as well as a bandana. So many uses.

Next i found a way to carry an extra 25 rounds of ammo (plus the 2 mags for 41 total). Pushing them into the grooves surrounding the buttstock. Additionally I have a mini BIC and firestarter in the spare compartment where you normally place a 3rd clip. A little bit of gun lube, just encase.

Finnaly I polished up all the internals, While the gun functions flawlessly from the factory it can be improved upon by doing a simple polishing and removing all the overspray. cycles much more crisply. I can also use the receiver plate for a signal mirror if needed.

all was required is 0000 steel wool, some mother mags and a terry cloth. I DO NOT recommend this if you don't know what your doing. gunsmithing is an art-form and you should only do the amount of gunsmithing you are comfortable with. It was easy-ish...but you still need to know what your doing.

Thats about it. Im still trying to find a way to put a knife in it, I think I can fit one in if i can find the right one. Hope you enjoyed.

yep still floats and the cap still goes on no prob. its not water tight, never was (unlike some claim) but a piece of electrical tape would fix that.

Instead of a bulky scope, I use a pistol Laser. Small, stores in a pouch strapped to the side of the stock. Less expensive than a scope, Easier to mount, Better accuracy. Prices can run from $25 to $600 depending on your budget.

When everything else is all used up and gone, that thing would be the all saving survival rifle nobody else has.

https://www.ar-7.com/store/index.html

They have barrels, stocks, magazines, spare parts, etc, etc.

I replaced the alloy insert barrel on mine (made before henry took over) with a steel barrel. the original barrel had a belly in it,went from received dead center, to middle .200 low to 3/4 length .125 right, to end dead center. had interesting ballistics.... replaced the stock as well. anyone need the original stock?

Hi sirs, i am from the philippines. I acquired this ar-7 a long time ago and i just now had the chance to work on it. My question is that will the new henry's buttstock fit my old ar-7?

I considered collecting takedown .22s, because I am a gadget guy and these are cool gadgets.

I have an AR-7, which I keep only to show beginners what a crappy gun is like.

I have a 10-22 Takedown, a fine hunk of hardware. I stopped collecting when I bought that.

all others have so many shortcomings that it would be silly to spend money on them that would do more good buying 10-22 accessories

I would not do any mods to the AR-7 that would interfere with storing it in the buttstock or floating.

Shipping. its off my old charter arms AR7. I don't use it anymore. converted my AR7 to this. anyway check your barrel, did some research on mine, it was a common thing for the stainless liner to bow when they cast the alloy barrel around it. mine was just worse than some...... replaced it with a steel barrel and it became a tack driver.

Have you seen Magpul's new Backpacker stock for the 10-22 takedown? https://youtu.be/ezOYLwOl7oQ?t=43

Make getting a 10-22 even more tempting!

Like the idea of storing ammo in the buttstock. Also like the new stocks for being able to store more mags in addition to keeping a mag in the action. Would be nice upgrade to older Charter Arm versions.
The MagPul stock for the 10/22 is cool too. Hadn't heard about that one.
Apparently, other people think like me at least a little bit. Portability/Packability and carrying xtra ammo in the stock somehow.
That 10/22 takedown stock is awesome. Fits in a backpack with at least 40 rds pretty easily and price not that horrible. Might have to get a takedown 10/22 just to have the stock! Would be nice to know how much stock rifle with Magpul takedown stock weighs though. Am sure the 10/22 is lighter but still an option in my book.

Get a few 25 round mags, epoxy but to but, that's 50 rounds. These or 10-22's can be a heck of a cheap suppressing fire tool. Evert kid over 6 should have one...
