Default Just one pistol... ?

If you could have just one pistol that had to suit all your needs(ccw, wrol, home defense) what would be and what caliber? for me its glock 19. because of the availability of glock parts and 9mm is easy to come by and still an effective round.

4"SS GP100 .357magnum. Not the easiest to hide on your person, but my favorite of what I own.

1911 of some flavor (Probably a Brown or a Wilson if I could only own one) as long as parts were available. It would be a 45 of course.

If we are talking deserted island, take what's on you though....Glock 19.

Probably a .45 1911. Its design is more mechanical, easier to open and understand compared to a glock that seems kind of closed in by a plastic case. Im no gun tech though, this is just what i am assuming.

Okay, it comes from someone who started half a dozen of "Glock 19 - the best ever" threads on this site alone.

If it was the only gun I could have for all applications, and I was the only operator, and no cheating with the replacement barrels either, I would get Glock 23,22 or 35 depending on where I would have to conceal carry it. Glock 23 for hot and humid, Glock 35 for North Pole and Glock 22 for somewhere in between.

If I was allowed to cheat then I would get Glock 20 SF(10mm) with additional hunting and 40S&W conversion barrels.

I hope you meant to say the other way around. Glock is the simplest pistol on the market right now. If you can figure out how to open a soda can you can figure out the Glock's design.

Glock 23 in 40S&W with a 9mm conversion barel from Lone wolf. Or G27 with the same.

I think 9mm and 40 will be easy to scavenge. Were ammo in limitless supply (as it ought to be if we're doing things right) I'd use my G30 in 45 acp.

1911 is best design of all time, but the ammo is too heavy to pack alot of it in a BOB

357 S&W great gun and is the best all around rd. IMHO, but not as common as it was at one time

For reasons of ammo is pluntiful. Most law enforment and Military carry it. The weapon is also a proven leader, so I would pick

Sig P6 in 9MM

As a F.R.A. and a Certified Firearms Instructor ,That is the pistol I carry daily and for lots of great reason.

It gets real personal when your being shot at. Trust me on that. You just have to know you can count on your side arm being there for you. My P6 has many times.

I only have .41 Rem mag revolvers for hunting and defense!

I have some .22 LR semi auto pistols and revolvers for plinking, training and small game hunting.

Much like SeekHer, I'm partial to a .41 Mag for all around use.

But I'd likely switch to a 1911 in .45 Auto as it's easier to conceal.

I'm around too many big critters to even consider the 9mm as an option.

A 10mm 1911 maybe, but that would require opening the safe.

9x19mm Glock19 or Hipower or clone(FEG,FM) or S&W 4" 66 .357 Mag though I have noticed at one survival site they are saying a reliable .22LR semi-auto or revolver is the best choice. I don't practically like the one handgun choice. I'm aiming for a 9mm with a .22LR or .22Mag revolver backup at this time. At present I have a FEG Hipower with a H&R 922 3" .22LR as backup. Though I also have a NAA .22Mag/LR convertible 1 1/8" also.

Glock 19. I might stretch it to a 34 or even a Glock 22 if that's what your local cops carry, like mine do. Commonality is common sense.

You need to do some reading on that you are about 180 degrees off course on the subject. Plus tracking a malfunction down in a glock is easy for a novice in comparison.

That said if I had to show off a gun I'd take the 1911 over the Glock any-day.

Poor GLOCK kool-aid drinkers.

But you know, I sorta have to agree that if you are the kind of person who has trouble trying to figure out how to open a soda can, or think that novice level knowledge of your weapons is acceptable then the GLOCK is probably as good a choice as can be expected.

Personally, I'm going to go with the pistol with OVER a 100 year track record for reliability and stopping power. One that I can use my intimate knowledge of, if needed, to manufacture my own small parts for.

. . . not that this would be necessary. NO PISTOL is in constant production for 100+ years because it breaks or malfunctions with any regularity.

Yup. Surely even the Glock impaired know what pistol I'm talking about, so I don't even feel the need to name it.
