Default California Concealed Carry- For politicians, not the people

A California State Senate Committee has been considering a proposal to give a concealed carry permit to, “any applicant who is a member of Congress, a statewide elected official or a Member of the Legislature.”

These elected officials could carry a gun, “for purposes of protection or self-defense.”

As an editorial in the Washington Times noted, “The measure highlights the growing rift between the bureaucratic class and taxpayers who don’t have the luxury of exempting themselves from bad laws.”

The Times added that, “Ordinary Californians who want a concealed carry permit need to apply to the local sheriff. In practice — outside of conservative, rural counties — only celebrities and the well-connected end up obtaining the coveted document. In a state of nearly 37 million, about 40,000 permits were issued in 2007.”

The proposal was made by, “a pair of pro-gun state Senate Democrats…” In a state with such restrictive gun laws, including a ban on high-capacity magazines and so-called “assault weapons,” you might think any law which seems pro-Second Amendment should be supported by gun owners.

However, “Exempting politicians [from unfair concealed carry laws] may be the exception,” the Times argued. “Coddled lawmakers living in gated communities may think they face heightened risk, but it’s unlikely poor residents in sketchy urban neighborhoods have any less of a need.”

Well of course!!! What else would you expect from Socialists in Government. Always remember. When socialists run a society, there are two classes. The ruling elite. And the worker peasants. You see, the politicians, the movie stars and celebrities who rub elbows with the politicians, and help their campaigns; the Michael Moores, the Janeane Garofalo's, the Rosie O'Donnells, the Bruce Springsteins, the Barbara Boxers and the Chuck Schummers, can't trust you with a gun. You are a peasant. They need a gun to protect themselves from you.
So just remember your place peasant.

all people are equal, but some are more equal than others...

I'm glad that my father who lives in California has had his guns since way before tracking them was possible.

Elitist pigs. That sickens me.

They're all for protecting themselves, but not interested in the rights of the common person; no rights for little peasants.

Cowards and scum of the earth. They can eat dirt.

Do as I say, not as I do. I remember when Dianne Feinstein caught holy hell because she had a CCL and a dreaded pistol. THis was when she became Mayor of San Fransisco after the assasination of Mayor Willie Moscone in the late 70's.

Yup, you heard right, elitists

Cool

That sucks. But I don't think people even pay attention to the laws anyway. Probably most people there carry guns anyway. Law or no law.

The Gangs do too.

I'm so glad I'm not in that state! I'm sick of politicians thinking they are exempt from the laws of the "common" people. What happened to "A Government of the people, for the people, by the people?"

Feinstein from what I hear has a BOL up in Coffee Creek, deep in NW CA Trinity Mnts. Great country though miner '49'ers overhunted the area then, causing elk to extinct, and most of them starved. Could be Boxer, whats the diff, right? Her BOL buddy is an arms dealer... Sickening The masses, unarmed, starving, left to die in the cities...

Everyones accountable for their actions. Some have forgotten that.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I gotta say though, if Californians allow this to happen, then so be it. I also say, that if the politicians allow this to happen without seeing the issues that this creates by separating people in classes of masters and servants, then they deserve anything that comes their way. A CCW doesn't save your behind when it comes down to the firefight.

Default A step in the right direction

It's far from perfect, but I happen to like any new law that makes firearms carry laws more liberal. If this passes, we can expect that down the road the carry over will trickle down to us law abiding John Q Publics. I believe the NRA supports it because its a move in the right direction. These things generally happen in small bites. We are never going to get everything all at once.

An old bull and a young bull are on a hill overlooking a bunch of cows. The young bull say, "Hey lets charge down there and **** one of them cows." The old bull snorts and says, "Nah, lets ease on down there and **** them all."

There's still plenty of big Elk herds in the area, West and South, and North but not right in the Trinity Alp/wilderness. That's not really elk country, too steep. Plenty of elk all the way south down to Lake County just 2 hours North of Bay Area. You know how they like the open grass woodlands. Them Trininty Mtns are straight up & down & very little grasslands. Drive through Laytonville in Mendo County and you can see 100+ elk less than 500 yards from the Hiway 101. They never leave any more because these fields stay green all year. Driving on Hwy 20 in Lake County, you can see the Elk up on the mountain sides in multiple locations. Up in Del Norte County near Klamath, the elk are right next to the Hiway. Always the same spots, as they are habitual animals.
