I really want to know. Just about all opinions I get are against even considering packing a S&W 5906. Damn thing is as heavy as a 1911 !!!! Damn it I am bigger than Sonny Crocket and at one time was better looking too
Here is how, www.ravenconcealment.com take a look at the phantom. It is by far the most stable platform for carrying a full sized 1911 or similar gun. Research it, find out all there is about it and then order one. You won't be sorry. There is quite a long wait, (about 16 weeks) but worth it. Get the wings, they are also worth it.

My hip aches after about 30 minutes of climbing during hunting season with my poly compact 45, or 9mm maybe 30oz's. On a normal day out shopping with the family my hip hurts after a couple of hours. I've switched to the LCP for most normal activities, and plan on switching to a PF9 for hunting season this year.

The key to carrying any handgun comfortably is a good holster, and a good belt. Don't go buy a thousand dollar gun, and a 30 dollar holster. Shell out some cash for a good holster and belt.
