Default Marines are Developing New Rifle Qualification

Sounds like it's just being evaluated right now, who knows if they will change it completely or just end up doing a few modifications.

It's about time. Almost all of the old qual was irrelevant to anything but "but we shot at 500 to qual! With irons!"

The #1 most evil person on the planet. A white male hetero-sexual, especially if he has any beliefs founded in judeo-christianity & even more so if he's got a military and/or L.E. background. Best get them before they marry another white & make even more evil white babies.

#2 son finished jarhead basic in Oct. He said everything they fired was with optics and was very easy to qual expert. ACOGs as I recall.

Also thought multiple Appleseeds helped him.

Yeah, the PC alternative to a h*ji rifle range target or a Ch**ese target looks like he's based on US mil Iraq / Afghanistan combat veterans

???

And he also doesn't have his rifle raised?

The basics always remain the same natural body alignment , sight picture , trigger control and BRASS. Irons or scope/ACOG it does not matter. S/FI!

Irons or nothing. I didnt serve and I think I am pretty good shooter. I had my 17 year old daughter hitting the end (tipped over Gatorade bottles) at 100 yards with optics years ago. Just basic mechanics. They should not lower their standards as that is why the Marine Corp is feared

My first impression of that outline was a SEAL, but agree with the others re: white guys as being PC targets.

Never served, so just off the top of my head wondering about the reliance on optics/electronics/drones and Murphy's tendency to strike. Guess that's what they'll be doing, shaking out the areas of potential glitches.

From an article linked in the original: "The unit is the first fully manned deploying unit in the Marine Corps at the 15-Marine rifle squad configuration, unveiled in 2018 by last Commandant Gen. Robert B. Neller. It adds two Marines, an assistant squad leader and a squad systems operator to the decades-old 13-Marine formation." https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/new...ture-infantry/.

A couple buddies of mine still in the Reserves were talking about this not too long ago. ACOGs and using the BDC as opposed to actually adjusting the reticles for each distance. Just initial zero and go from there.

I guess I'm a member of dinosaur class; still clinging to irons though I'm a realist. Prepping up a new A4 with a CMP/NRA-legal optic for CMP and NRA sanctioned matches.

dont feel like the lone stranger brother, i only own 1 rifle with no BUIS on it. Couldnt help it . it was a excellent deal. but it still bothers me every time I check zero for hunting season. i usually run a fold down set i have on everything new, the replace em with TROY Folders soon as i can. currently trying to figure out if a set of BUIS is going to be useful on a KAK. probably not but my OCD ass, im probably going to put em on there anyway.......

I just cant seem to break that habit.

It’s war, not a western movie, there’s no requirement to let them shoot first.
Unless the politicians set the ROE...

Just want to respectfully point out, from the article... “This shift aligns with the earlier update the U.S. Army made to their marksmanship and rifle qualification programs.”

Dad gum it...the jarheads are getting Army leftovers again.

If added to range accuracy I don't see a problem.

Except this:
Quote:

Marines will use their individual issue weapon which will be an M4/M4A1, M16A4, or M27. All rifles will shoot the same course.

They tried that back in 2001.... Gunnies who hadn't ever not shot expert were getting pizza boxes due to M4 vs M16 @500.
Went away quick.

It would be a mistake to train for the next war due to the last, but there's a long history of us doing that.

I think the Corps should definitely still qualify with iron sights in addition to the ACOGs. I’m not sure my eyes would still allow me to hit 500 yards anymore with irons. I can wear glasses to either see my front sight tip clearly or see the target. At least I know sight alignment and sight picture.

Don't like the service wide change idea. Why? Because it is service wide.

Clerks and bakers don't need to run and gun. When they get called out to the walls you just want them to hit targets.

Gravel belly training does that best.

This new regime should be a 03XX course with a separate qual.

There is room on the uniform for more than 2 qual badges. I saw a Gunny from the National Match team wear four badges for an IG inspection in his Alphas. Completely legit for the dress code.

Damn flyboys, carpenters, and WMs don't need to be run and gun types. It will just burn up time and they will lose distance training skills.

Now will one of you youngsters help me up? I think I've gotten stuck to the gravel.
