I have an SKS, just got it. I think this is going to be my bug out gun I.E. the gun I'll carry in my hands as my group tries to get to our bug out location if TSHTF. We're going to try to avoid any conflict of course, but if there is no choice.... you get the idea.
Anyways, Tapco has some nice removable magazine upgrades. However, loaded stripper clips are smaller, lighter and much easier to carry than a bunch of mags. The Tapco mags are also very large.
So I was wondering if this could work - replace the in place stock 10 round magazine with a 20 or 30 round tapco mag, then when reloading, reload it with 2 or 3 full stripper clips from the top. This would let me have a higher capacity magazine while still having the advantage of being able to carry more rounds on me and accessible.
Would this work? Can you even load it this way with a aftermarket magazine? Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks
