Sometimes the answer's sane, it's the questions that are crazy.

Before my wife got on board with my prepping, I always used that as an answer. We'd be in a store and I'd buy something, like 20 pounds of rice. Or the time I got an internet "daily deal" of Fuji Batteries that were 60 AA or AAA for $5.00. Had 180 batteries delivered to the house. "Why do we need so much?"

"Zombie Apocalypse," was always my answer. She'd just roll her eyes.

I've told this story on the board before. The idea of a zombie apocalypse is fictional, but a pure "male" idea spawned by guns and survival. My daughter once asked if I thought there would ever really be a zombie apocalypse. "Of course not," I told her. "But to be prepared for a zombie apocalypse is to be prepared for any emergency."

Oddly enough, zombies are one emergency I'm 99.999% sure I'll never have to deal with. It just seems too bizarre to be true!!! and... I guess it really goes against my religious beliefs too. Hyperinflation, on the other hand, scares the jeewhilikers outta me!

Anywho, I giggle&snicker&snort every time I see this little cartoon.. I think it's just priceless!

Zombie appocolypse is often used here as a euphemism so we don't get tarred with the same brush as Bear and all the other cable affiliated prepper$

Why wouldn't we prepare? Look at all the advantages:
-Our neighbhors can't stop staring.
-That guy at Costco can't stop staring when we buy all the batteries.
-Gun shows give us one hour, no haggling allowed.
-Our wives think we're crazy.
-Our husbands think we're overreacting.
-The Goverment thinks we're anarchists and has our house red listed.
-Our parents keep trying to get us to see a psychologist.
-The zoning commision replies, 'No, you cannot build a 20 foot high wall around your house lined with razor wire.'

I conveniently 'forgot' to mention the razor wire, and told them I had a very athletic dog that could easily jump anything less than a 20' fence

and the ones who roll their eyes are the first ones at your door when the power goes out asking if we have any spare Batteries...............

This is a thread in the humor section. You should probably post your question in another section. Like the medical/first aid section.

The thought of Zombies does relate in disaster situations when people become desperate for food and when brains are no longer working. Whether they're real or not, preparing for the unexpected is a great move.

Hello everyone.
I like to use the "Zombie Apocalypse" phrase as a catch all that lets the questioner know I'm not going to answer the question clearly! Also useful for cancelling dates.

If you have a zoning commission, you are not prepared.

It is better to have something and not need it than need something and not have it!
