"The Christmas Store" (not sure if thats a national chain or regional) had cans of crab meat for ~1.50.

Wegmans had store brand mac+chz for 35 cents! It won't last forever and the nutrition is probably abominable but it's hard to beat that price for a fast meal.

Went and got some buckets from the donut shop this morning. Thought I was going to get an awesome deal, but didnt. The lady told me a dollar a piece yesterday and charged me 2 today when I went to pick them up. They are #2 square buckets, but I can still see through them. I think I'll just use them for short term storage and get some better buckets and lids from lowes.

Bought more tags and string for labeling 5-gallon cans of fuel.

Bought a big box of tea bags and eight cans of B&M Brown Bread for stockpile.

Had long discussion with two friends about the vegetable garden I'll plant this year. It's my first veg garden, but my friends are very experienced with gardening. I got some good ideas and am beginning to feel like I have a plan.

Over the last several weeks, every time the wife goes to Wally World she buys a can or two of LTS food. We had a 8x12 shed built and now converting to chicken coop. Bought 20 straight run 6 week old chickens. Already live on 5 acres with 2 horses. Ordered some silver, who knows when it will get here and have plenty of 5.56 to protect it.

Just purchased a set of Night Sights for my Baby Eagle II and a leather inside the pants holster for it. Also went to the shooting range this last Sunday with a couple of friends. Shot 1 - 1 1/2 inch groupings at 21-23ft with my BE .40S&W.

Ordered cedar trees (privacy hedge), elderberries, wild plum, wild cherry, and Jerusalem Artichokes today. I missed out on the conservation department Persimmon and Paw Paw trees this year, but they are on my want list. I want to turn my piece of land into a feast of food sources natural to my area.
Other than that I stared out at the pouring raining marking another day off my "I really need to be planting stuff" calendar.

I've been hoarding burned down candles and scrap candle wax for a couple of years now.
A quick stop at Hobby Lobby to pick up candle molds and wicks and I'm ready to go.
This past week, I started melting the old candles down and re-casting them as new candles.
Since I had a variety of old material to work with and since I value function over style, I mixed the wax as I was melting it down. I now have several new 2" diameter x 3 1/2" tall candles in a variety of colors.

They may not make the cover of Good Housekeeping, but they work fine.

Also bought a roll of pre-65 quarters.

I believe in stocking up on brass and lead.

An extra 2.000 9mm FMC.
... However, I must admit that the stock isn't increasing rapidly - I have a tendency to actually use the ammunition almost as fast as i buy it...

How do you like those propper bdu's?

I'm looking for some new Multicam for the fall.

even unopened seeds should be used within a few years. As for the open bags, just curl the seed pouch over a few times and stick it in a ziplock.

Unless you have these kind of resources

A nice, small first aid kit (fanny-pack style) to add to my BoB. It fits perfectly without having to remove anything. Found it for $5.99 on sale.

Cut off all the strawberry plant runners and planted them in 3 polystyrene vege boxes which I had filled with a great rich mixture of compost and broken down manure.

Set up and filled my worm farm with worms.
