I have always thought the 357 was the most versatile round. Love it as a pistol round. I'm not a lever fan so rarely shoot mine. I do have a ruger 357/77. It is fantastic and I use it for deer. the largest thing I have shot is a boar he was 250# and 10 yards away. Learn to reload ammo for it, cast your own projectiles and you are on your way. I have a Ruger GP100 also, have not shot a box of ammo through it, so can't comment on it. I have a smith with thousands of rounds through it and it is fantastic.

Th' GP100 is sturdy, reliable, and dead nuts accurate. It'll handle Buffalo Bore an' Double Tap- in moderate amounts. Outside o' moose, griz, and polar bear, it should do th' job. Two legged varmints, no problem...

Fer anythin' more dangerous than a 'yote, use .357 magnum. Small stuff, .38spl should do the trick. Use yer own discretion... Remember, screw-up, an the cavalry ain't comin'.
