I'm not sure where to post this. I've heard from several of my prepper friends that they would have liked to know about these in advance. So I'm putting the word out to those interested. If it needs to be moved or this is not appropriate then feel free to handle as needed and let me know please so I do not do it again.



I've posted these in the past and had many folks interested. The fee includes your ham test fee. The rest of it goes to support the volunteer sar team.



Ham in a Day April 7th 2013 (HIAD)

Description

No technical knowledge or Morse code requirements are needed. This class is for anyone who would like to obtain their technician level amateur radio license. More than 1000 people have taken this class and passed! The class consists guided study sessions and hourly breaks followed by the FCC testing session.

**This class uses memory retention.
People who have concentration issues or a learning disability may not do well in this type of class.

Dates & Times

April 7th 2013

13:00 18:00 Study Sessions
18:00 20:00 Testing Session

Cost
$35.00 (includes FCC test fee)

Registration

Bring a legal photo ID such as a Drivers License or Passport
If no legal photo ID is available then bring 2 pieces of photo ID.

Anyone 16 years old or younger must have a parent or legal guardian present for the entire session.

Unfortunately, I am nowhere near that area. But that is a great program. IMO, 2 meter radios will be the major means of communication between prepared groups. It is very important. Of course, when TSHTF, we won’t need licenses. Still, it will be helpful if everyone is familiar with protocol and etiquette.
