Any one in the New Madrid fault zone may want to read this.
It also has information on the expected damages from an earthquake in the New Madrid zone or the Wabash zone as it relates to Natural gas and power distribution to the region and to the cities around that area.
Interesting read
PS it also has info on the gas storage area in the Wabash valley.

Long but good. The New Madrid fault will suffer massive soil liquification. Its base is soil, not rock, Bridge pilings in the area are not even on bedrock.

Although not in the immediate quake zone, it is a soil problem. St. Louis as well as the entire area is sitting on hundreds of feet of soil. The last quake had soil liquification over a hundred miles from epicenter.

Thanks for the info, i live in east KY. and still think we will be affected by a hard hit there. We have so many gas lines running through this area and have a 8" main within 30 yards of the house, don't like it but it was done a long time before i got here.
