When asked once how long a man still wanted to and was able to do "that," her answer was:
"As long as he can still heft a sack o' bran, lass, as long as he can lift a sack o' bran."

Maybe some of the men today just can't keep up with the old coots of her day? Or maybe it was all that walking around with nothing under the kilts that kept 'em stiff. :D
If you've read the Outlander series, it's in the genes. Scots are a virile lot!

You won't get any argument from me on that. Great-gran went back to Clan McLeod of Skye.

With my husband, yes, it was true.

How about working on getting the fat off some of these guys and they won't have any problem performing in the bedroom? The Standard American Diet (SAD) is what's hampering men. Get them off all the stuff that impedes sexual activity and you'll be having fun without them being of Scot descendant.

From my late 30s to mid-40s I felt like my sex drive had been hijacked by a 14 yo boy. I thought about sex ALL THE TIME. It was distracting. Finally settling down- but I think that's just because I'm so bored with my life....

I don't think they lose their "sex drive" (desire to perform sexually) but I do believe they lose their "sexual prowess" (ability to perform sexually).

Sex is basically for reproduction, with a few thrills and possibly dreadful consequences. Mother Nature designed it that way because she doesn't really want super "old" fathers...."old" meaning no longer in shape to perform fathering duties for another 20 years. Some men at 70 are "younger" than 30 year olds.

You said it: some men 70 are younger than the 30 year old counterparts. Age, I don't believe, isn't the deciding factor to sexual prowess. Things such as attraction, intense love of their partner, and respect are primary factors in continuing being sexually active. Also, physical abilities are just as crucial. If your man is drastically overweight he probably lacks the ability to perform. I met an acquaintance in his 90s who was still having staying power. Age is merely a number, nothing else.

I am 48, will be 49 next month and since I've been going thru menopause the last couple years I've been horny almost constantly when I'm feeling well otherwise.

Good thing for me my 50+ year old hubby hasn't lost his sex drive or willingness to satisfy his wife.

See, sex drive isn't merely a number of years lived. It's way more complicated than that and one must factor all the extraneous stuff into the equation.

I concur with Mrs. Sardog. If you read my previous posts on this topic you'll see not all of us experience what you've described. Sex is very much predicated on a variety of circumstances, and I've concluded it has nothing to do with age.

They have a sex drive long after their transmission has slipped. I used to work in nursing homes when I was in my 20s and 90 year old men would try to show me their stuff.

Not true. I lost mine after 40 and I wish hubby would lose his, but no such luck.
