Not real sure where to put this, but....

A couple days ago a neighbor informed me of a notice in our local shopper. She wanted me to call the person. The notice said something like "Looking for a group of concerned folks preparing for the advent." I called, left a message, and the next evening I got a return call. We talked for almost an hour. He believed without a doubt that things were going to get increasingly rough, because it had been prophesied in the Bible. I told him some about this area that had been strongly recommended to him by friends living in the Spokane, Washington area.

He was into gardening but was not into firearms use at all. I told him of the tactical courses in the area, the militias, and the long range at-night sniper school, but he had no interest in that. He was not a church attender because he felt that the last days were not talked about. He would probably be what many here would call a fundamentalist, believing that only the KJV Bible was the word of God. He quoted scripture from Revelations and Daniel. He knew about the deep state but was unsure who thy were.

I told him about groups in this area but that they were all based on the Second Amendment. Interesting fellow and he is preparing for what he "knows" is coming--world destruction and the coming of Jesus.

Well, I hope he enjoys that decision and can deal with the consequences, may it ever happen.

No different than religious types that ventured into indian land to spread the gospel. They get to die first.

TRUE BELIEVERS can be an unbelievable PIA...

IT happened a couple of times in my career.

Bad car accident..
injuries all around...

Got ambulances on the way
Start talking to victims..
"No treatment for us..my wife and I are Christian Scientists and if God wants us well he will take care of us." They t=hen ask for me to call someone to come to the scene to pray with them..WTF???????????
"Ok, but you have a compound fracture or your left arm and probably internal bleeding."
"If God wants me to live I will live but We refuse treatment."
meanwhile ambulance arrives.
EMTs approach are told to go away yadda yadda..

The EMTs will not help with getting them out because of refusal and I can't get them out without assistance and besides I will probably kill them in the process.

THEN
I remember what a long time ago training officer, WWII vet told me about the job.
"There is nothing in a goat rope situation that cannot be solved if you arrest someone."

I arrest the couple for obstruction, they are now police prisoners and have no right to refuse medical treatment. EMTs dive in and get them out and to hospital where again as prisoners they have no right to refuse.
at least back then. Who knows what kind of things govern these days.

I believe in God and all but religious nuts are going to be a liability in SHTF. I would just keep in touch with him and maybe trade for food sometime..... otherwise he will most likely be kinda useless

In my small town someone posted on craigslist that they where looking for a roommate or just people in general that where interested in prepping or organic farming. But at the end of the post was a "No progun people need to apply."

I was getting a pretty good hippy vibe from the post. So close to finding a like minded person yet so far. I understand having minimal amounts of guns but having none and your team having none is nuts. Unless you are preparing for a small natural disaster like a blizzard you are just preparing for the first random person that knocks on your door.

Even Jesus advised to buy a sword.

Reminds me of that episode of Doomsday Preppers where it was a hippy type thing and they refused to have guns. They were simply going to end up being slave labor and breeders for the people with guns that found them.

There are a lot of hippy off-grid organic communes in my area. As I network with others I have came across many of them.

Yep, this is it. Some of the first preppers were hippies, they haven't gone away. They have children, grandchildren, not to mention a whole new generation of young Americans who think they discovered gardening and sustainable energy.
At least where I live the people I would consider expert preppers - the Amish, Mennonites and traditional Natives - seem to have minimal guns and then there are those that have a gun and a case of ammo for every can or bottle in the pantry.
Anything is better than nothing and no single prepping lifestyle is right for everyone.

I love guns but not for me. Not with full blown hard core mental illness and probable dementia in my husband. Nope.

I got a hell of a lot of lentils, though.

Yea, no.

"Prepping" existed centuries before hippies.

I don't know about that, but it's certainly the theme song for the 70's/80's sitcom Diff'rent Strokes.

I think he's attempting to be funny. And of course naturally he slightly misquoted it.

Not to have any means of defense during a long term disaster, one must believe others would retain a certain level of civility whether prepared or not.
That is an illogical conclusion.

Do you folks remember Adam Lanza and the Sandy Hook shooting? Every household must decide for themselves if they ought to have guns or not. And, some households do not have guns.

I would wish that Adam Lanza's mother had decided to not keep guns in the house and had not trusted her son with the keys to the gun safe. And, if a person decides to not keep a gun I figure they have their reasons
