Default Popeye's--the sandwich to die for

Apparently the sandwich is so good people are killing one another to get it. Anyone had one? Does it live up to the hype?

I had Popeyes once. I wasn’t impressed. It’s just fried chicken with Cajun seasoning. The sandwich is basically their three piece chicken strips on a bun.

People are nuts.

For a fast food sandwich it's top notch.

I had two before they "went viral" and was happy when it was like my little secret, but looks like i'll never have one again. Passed by a Popeyes on the way home from work yesterday, the parking lot was INSANE!

But no, it's not worth standing in line for, stabbing/shooting someone over. People are trash.

People also get into what I would call "fad eating". Look @ Chic-Fil-A, since it was only in malls before people got all excited once they became easier to access, now they're the most popular fast food place in America. Now the fad is to try the Popeyes sandwich, so they're gonna bow down to their "everyone is doing this" god.

Some people were waiting in line for 1-1/2 to 2 hours to get one. I don't think they understand the meaning of fast food. If it's still around in a year and the lines are small, I may try it. But I'm sure it gets some good reviews simply because of the hype and the fact people can't admit they stood in line for a couple hours for mediocre fried chicken on a bun.

That's not right, but why fight over garbage? I went to a Popeye's ONCE and it was the absolute worst food I've ever tasted. I've not set foot in another one since..

Small chicken portions, greasy, my husband can't eat it. He can eat Church's just fine.

I am just not that into fried chicken, we ate so much homemade when we first got married, he had a deep fat fryer and chicken leg quarters were cheap... we would also fry potato wedges so don't like those either.

We've been to Popeyes in other states that was good. But not Tulsa. It's a good thing we had to wait, it gave us time to see the absolute FILTH in the place. There were roaches crawling around in the decorative jars of rice and beans and mold growing in the drip tray of the soda machine. We left without ordering and will never go back.

That area is in the gun free state of the Peoples' Demokratik Socialist Republik of Maryland (aka: "The FREE State") (yeah, right), Look up the "demographics" of this county as per the last U.S. Census. The statistics will tell you all you need to know.

This is typical behavior there. Actually happens on a daily basis. Decent people have been fleeing Maryland for decades now. It's the Kalifornia of the east coast. It even gave us Nancy Pelosi (born in Baltimore! Look it up. Comes from an old Maryland Demokratik Socialist family.)

Maryland is the epicenter of liberalism/progressivism on the east coast. Feeding into DC politics.

Popeyes and other such places are popular gathering spots for the resident gangstas and thuglings there. More than just fast food is consumed, bought and sold there. Just another day in paradise.

So what more can you expect?

All of these fast food places are raved about because most of our nation does not know how to cook anymore. You can find good food in many establishments, but its usually just because you dont put the time and effort needed to do it yourself. I am one of them myself, and have found new ideas to try.

I always like trying new foods and then try to replicate it myself, not always successful. That allows me to go back and resample, or I go back because I want the entire spread, with no work on my part.

I dont think though that there is any FAST FOOD that I cant do better. Given the choice between something off my grill or a steakhouse I happily do the dishes and clean up.

Most choose drive through food because it can be cheap and convenient or spur of the moment craving. I do that as well but know what I am expecting. If you are getting one of those 6 dollar window burgers, then walk the perimeter of your supermarket and save yourself some money.

Tried popeyes a few times in the past.

I have never eaten anything so greasy, so over salted, so over cooked and just plain gross in my life.

It's like they soak the chicken in grease after it's cooked, just so it will squish out grease when you bite into it.

Maybe its a cultural thing.

Which is EXACTLY why that demographic leads the nation in obesity, heart disease, digestive disease and diabetes.

You are CORRECT! It IS a "cultural" thing. Laziness and entitlement has taught them that anything they want, someone else will do it for them. This includes cooking for them and feeding them.

And when they don't get what they want RIGHT NOW, they yell, scream, pitch a tantrum and resort to violence EXACTLY like ENTITLED little children!

I can't get a better steak when I'm out than I make at home. Unless I go to a top steak house and pay $75 for a nice cut.

I cook all the time, just added a habanero chicken thigh dish to my arsenal. All I have to do is send my girl friend a text of what I'm cooking and she's over with beer and bread.

My Big Green Egg beats any restaurant steak I've ever tried, at a fraction of the price.

No In and Out Burgers places around here so I haven't tried one of those. Popeye's food was the same as you stated - meh... Of course people were raving about 5 Guys burgers. I went once and was not impressed.

I did find a Wayback Burgers place that had a decent burger plus they do things like hot dogs and milkshakes and malted shakes. Not bad for fast food. I have yet to get a Chik fil A sandwich but a lot of people seem to like them so one day if I'm near one I'll try one.

Popeyes “The Sandwich”?
“The Sandwich” is a strange name.
Or does the sandwich have a different name, and “the article” is using pronouns, because “they” not want to mention Popeyes trade name, for the sandwich.
