Still sick :-( Grr! I'm mostly just exhausted. A very slight headache and a little nose congestion, and then getting chills and occasionally getting slightly dizzy.

But I don't have a fever. I guess it's a good thing I had this week off from work, though this wasn't how I wanted to spend it.

I did get all those leaves dumped out in the garden. Boy did that tire me right out. I spent the rest of the morning/early afternoon napping on the couch.

I haven't had much of an appetite. I made some soup last night but only had a little bit. Made cream of wheat for breakfast and only had a little. But this afternoon I was starting to get pretty hungry.

I saw an ad on Swagbucks for $30 cashback on your first DoorDash order. And then I was shocked to find they'd deliver to my house. So I gave it a shot. My net cost for a large Chicken Wing pizza and a cheese calzone was about $10 after tax and tip and their fee. Not bad at all. That will last me the rest of the week!

I don't think I'd do it again - there's an 18% fee that DoorDash adds on (not the tip), plus I guess next time there will be a $4.99 delivery fee that was waved for my first order. So my order would have another 50% added to it!

In the 10 years I've been here, that's the first time I've ever gotten food delivered.

I was planning on having my mom over this week and make her my fancy baked potato recipe I found - you take some potatoes, cut it kind of into slices, but don't cut all the way through so they are still connected (the video showed them putting wooden spoons on either side when you cut), rub in oil then bake at 450 for 30 minutes. Then put little slices of cheese between the potato slices (and ham, if you like that nasty stuff!), then cover with a bechamel sauce (which is fancy talk for a white sauce, flour, butter, milk... I just used Alfredo sauce). Sprinkle it with shredded cheese and put it back in there for another 20-30 minutes. These were delicious! I was really wanting to make them for her, but I guess that will have to wait - I don't want her getting something from me. Mom always seems to pick up something very quickly.

I have been a very spoiled boy, though. I got 2 more foot massagers for nearly free, in exchange for my honest review. I am using one of them right now. So including the one I bought a few months ago, that's three! Very spoiled!

But I learned I had been using them in the wrong position all this time. I put one in the bedroom. Now my bed is a bit shorter because it's just the box frame and the mattress. I'll sit down on the side of the bed, stick my feet in the massager, turn it on, and then lay down with my head propped up on 2 or 3 pillows. WOW!! I could stay like that forever!

Well I think I'm finally starting to feel better. The low grade fever is gone. I'm tired, but that's because I got up way early (big windstorm all night, plus my cat Alex was like a furnace under the covers and roasted me up out of bed). Been up for almost 2 hours. Had a nice cup of coffee and did a bit of reading. Gonna head back to bed for an hour or two.

But I don't feel the exhausted tired that I had felt all week. Hopefully that's the end of that. My mom has a Dr. appointment today (we have the same Dr.) and last night she suggested I call to see if I can get in today, and if they didn't have any openings to see if they'd let me have her time, since hers was just for a routine follow up that could be rescheduled. I was hoping to avoid that, and I think I'll be able to.

That little kitty is so sweet. She's taken to climbing up my leg when I'm sitting, and perching on my shoulder. Just now she is trying to snuggle down between the back of my neck and my shirt. I cannot keep her, that's for certain. But oh it's hard. I've always had a thing for the runts. But she is still far too little to give away.

Well, the cold weather has finally come. We got a few inches of snow earlier in the week. One of the nice things about going into work an hour later than I used to is that they've at least started to work on the roads!

Thanks to an amazing deal at Kohls, I was able to score a 3qt instant pot for $22. It came yesterday and I tried it out this morning. I made Pumpkin Spice Steel Cut Oats, and they were delicious! Easy to make, too. Mix everything into the pot, set it for 15 minutes, then when it's done it sit for 10 minutes and then let it vent. I'm going to try out a baked bean recipe tonight. I saw another recipe for a family sized pancake - one giant pancake that you can cut into slices like a cake. I'm going to have to try that!

My feet are doing better. They still hurt a lot, and get sore. But it's much more manageable. Someone gave me the idea to switch out my shoes throughout the day, and I started doing that. That really helps! Then I got these silicone foot pads, and they are almost like walking on a cloud!

With my new position, I do and see a lot more with inventory management. I've heard stories of the waste, but it's another thing to see it all first hand. A lot of stuff they donate, but most things like candy and expired baby food is thrown out. Just this week I watched them throw out 2 entire pallets of baby formula. Since it was 1 month expired, the food pantry won't take it. There was probably $25,000 of formula on each pallet! What a waste!

I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

My family has started to celebrate Christmas a little differently. Rather than getting together on Christmas Day, we get together Christmas Eve, so that each family can have Christmas Day for themselves.

It is nice making Christmas a little simpler. Instead of the normal Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve, we just got a sheet pizza and wings. So much easier on everyone - no huge meal to prepare, and then hardly any dishes to clean up after.

And I appreciate not having to watch the time. I almost always have worked the day after Christmas, and since I get up very early, I was usually always the first one to leave. Doing it on Christmas Eve allows me not to have to watch the clock and enjoy myself.

Last year my parents came up on Christmas Day. This year I went down there for a bit, brought them Denny's. I was sure glad I had ordered it online for pick up... I just got us each 2 pancakes. Mom had wondered if we should just all go in and eat... I told her it would probably be busy, plus it's a whole lot cheaper. And boy was I right! It was PACKED! My pancakes were ready but they were telling people coming in that it would be about an hour on food. One older couple grumbled and walked out... What do they expect? It's the only sit down place opened in the area!

Merry Christmas, Dealie! I'm glad the new schedule worked out for you. We used to have the big family dinner at my grandparent's house on Christmas Eve. That left just us at home on Christmas Day to have the day to ourselves with no traveling. Nice and quiet.

Had some nice developments at work. I mentioned the new position I got back in October. It was still hard on my feet, as I was standing the whole time, but now I didn't have a rate so I could go at my own pace.

At that point we were set up in the middle of the warehouse, with lots of traffic all day. One of the others (they had a bunch of people doing it, because they had put it off for so long and were way way way behind) suggested I get a chair if I wanted. I didn't, because I didn't know if it would be alright with the big wigs, and everyone else stood.

Back in November they set me and my partner (once we got caught up, there's really only two of us who do the position) with a station in one corner of the warehouse, one without much traffic and kind of out of sight.

When I had been putting things away on the different pick mods of the warehouse I saw a folding chair, and it obviously wasn't being used. So Thursday I took it for my station so I can sit down while I sort. Oh man! It was awesome! Thursday it was only half the day, but Friday I used it for the entire day. My feet felt great! I mean, they still hurt a bit, of course, and when I stood up those first few steps were AAAAAHHHH but the overall feeling was so much better! I went home, and I wasn't so sore that all I wanted to do was sit. It was great!

Here's hoping the big wigs don't mind. I don't think they'll care. Me and my partner (he made a chair out of totes) concluded that sitting down while we sort actually lets us sort faster. And... the table they have for us has a metal ledge underneath it. One of the benefits of being short is that it's the perfect height for a foot rest. They might not like him siting on totes, so we'll have to find him another folding chair. If they do have a problem with it, I'll see if the foot doctor will fill out a Reasonable Accommodation form for it. There's really no reason you can't sit while you do this part of my job. But wow did it make a huge difference for me!

I'm glad you found the chair. The Bigs shouldn't complain if it helps you sort faster!

They did :-( They came around yesterday just after first break. Said get rid of the chair. Said if there was a medical reason then I'd need to go to the doctor.

Today was pretty rough. But I made it. I go to the foot doctor next week. But how long will they take to approve it, if they approve it at all? I don't remember if I mentioned it here, but when I went back to work from being out for my foot, the foot doctor tried to put me on 8 hour shifts (no overtime) for the rest of the year. It took them nearly 5 weeks to approve it, and then they only approved it for a mere 3 1/2 weeks. !!!???
