Looks like it is part of the Belt and Road Initiative agreements. It is a big deal for Iran. China is moving into their Oil and Gas sector in a big way. China will supply Security Personnel/Military for security of their projects 5000 men and supply additional personnel and ships to secure the transit of oil etc from Iran to China initially. There will be no more UK or US seizure of tankers in that area without consequence from China. I imagine the tankers will be Chinese flagged does not say what that arrangement will be. Big sanction busting change. Would not doubt that Iran will be getting a big boost in missile technology and various armaments from China. https://www.petroleum-economist.com/...ic-partnership

Not like there's much we can do about it. China would squash Israel like a bug if Israel attacked Chinese military assets. I seriously doubt that the USA would start a war with another superpower over trade with Iran, especially when it will be fought at a location that logistically benefits China.

China is not America's friend. I'm not terribly surprised they would look to cut an oil deal with Iran.

Well, what will it be. You want a presence and influence in the middle east/asia or not?
As i recall, the US withdrew from several trade pacts it had, to "renegotiate" them. They just negotiated without you.

China's been seizing U.S. boats since the boxer rebellion. They've even captured our planes in the recent past. Iran can't stop seizing our boats or people going back at least to '79. It's like an addiction. We need to quit letting these people walk all over us with ZERO consequences & start smacking THEM in the mouth for a change.

Don't have to start a war, simply close our ports to their goods.

That dog will come to heel rather quickly.

Patton was correct all along. Force is the ultimate negotiator when talking about bad regimes.

Oh man, the US was so close to closing that trade deal with Iran before China came and stole it out from under them.

So was Teddy Roosevelt. Only we've gone from speaking softly & carrying a big stick to talking big & tucking tail when anyone challenges the talk.

This is nothing new. China has been getting the bulk of it's oil from Iran for several years now.

Stalin and Hitler had an agreement, wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. Iran and China are both back stabbers well in line with the former mass murderer's IMHO.

America has ostracized so many of her ex-allies that she's on the brink of becoming a sitting duck. Both China and Iran and Russian would love to dump the US Petro Dollar. This alliance may very well give them the power and the courage to drop it and turn to gold and other tangible goods as opposed to America's Debt Note. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Too bad that America has been turning into one of those "bad regimes" for so long. I love our Founders and our Constitution but both are gone now. Our Constitution is a skeleton of its old self and we follow more Socialist ideals than we do ideals based on Liberty. So it's hard to say which of all the bad regimes is the worst these days.
