Default **Ladies Section*** Just wanted to introduce myself

I've rarely posted to the Ladies Section. Quite frankly, it is a close tight knit community. I used to avoid the ladies section, for the most part.

Many of your subjects, haven't applied to me for ages, and I just felt out of the loop. No husband, no kids, no monthly issues, etc. My life was about being addicted to work (paycheck) and my fur baby pets I used to have.

November I sold my mobile home trailer and moved 1 hr drive north. I moved in with my 1st born son and his 4yr old daughter. My 1st grandchild. More importantly.... since I had 4 sons, and she is a *girl*.... well..... she is the 1st girl of the family.

I since had 2 more grandkids, both boys. Go figure! Right? LOL

The reason I moved in with the oldest son, and his daughter.... he actually spent 3 months, talking on the phone with me, begging me, to do this.

He's ADHD himself, trying to be a single dad, work insane hrs, cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. Now she's in pre-school twice/week.

Being ADHD.... let me explain... he is either SUPER FOCUSED.... or not focused at all. It's like there is no *in between* with him. He's either totally on or totally off.

Im 52. He's 32. He's a Haz Mat trucker. Hauls fuel 6 days/wk. All local, so he's home everyday. He works long insane hrs. For his age..... he makes insane money, with benefits and a retirement fund that many his age would be jealous.

Even his brothers will tell you.... ask what his driving force is? CHASING MONEY! And he's good at it!!!!!

Housekeeping (woman's work).... ummmm..... I'm downright ashamed to explain this part. Hence... he finally accepted that *they* NEEDED me! (it was pretty bad when I 1st came here)

Anywho... I'm now a full time Grandma, to a 4yr old granddaughter. This past month has been stressful, with the move and all. Plus it's been an adjustment for us.

I'm the live-in housekeeper, cook, babysitter. I'm the woman of the house! But it really has been a challenging adjustment for all of us.

I just wanted to introduce myself, because this past month, I find myself gravitating towards the Ladies Section more often.

Emerald...were you the one that had the water leak in the mobile home?

My son is 35, he also has ADHD.....he is on medication which helps him a lot he says. He's been on a couple of different ones since he was 9. The one that helped him the most, they took off the market. But he does stay focused...he is in IT networking

Yep... I'm the water leak in tHE MH home. Sooooooooo much was going wrong, not just with the MH, but with that particular region.

Economically, that place was pretty depressed. Heck... i got a job, and the 2nd wk paycheck BOUNCED!

But this place was sooooo bad.... he could of lost custody of his child!

He is soooooo totally focused on MONEY...... making money... that everything else goes to hell. He is on meds... alderall? is that how you spell it? I suspect the dosage needs to get upped?

For 3 months, he begged me, on the phone to make this life altering move. I fought it non-stop. I had my own concerns. That paycheck bouncing was my final breaking point.

I sold the trailer with a $20,000 loss! I basically did a *dump and run*. When I figured out what it would cost me to continue living there for the next winter months..... I'm better off taking the loss!

I'm right there with you on the above! I know this section serves a very important function for the ladies here, and participate from time to time when something comes up where I don't feel like I will stick out like a sore thumb.

I think it's wonderful that you have hitched your wagon with other family members. I have done something similar in that when I bought my parents' place they continued to live here on the property (though not in the same house). The benefits have been immeasurable for all concerned. When my mom broke her foot at 1:00 a.m. this past summer, I was just next door. When I needed to plant 50 white pines, my dad was right here to help me. You can accomplish so much more by sharing the load. I'm a huge fan of families coming together like they used to!

It's also wonderful that you are getting to spend so much time with your granddaughter. Not only for you, but for her!

I've only been here, 1 month. Let me tell ya.... THEY NEED ME! I know that. It's 9am, and I'm drinking beer, because I'm still soooooo upset about this past few days. Trying to destress, because the itching rash is driving me nuts.

He got home about 3am. She's in bed, with him. He's sleeping. She's cuddling up to dear ole dad, and watching tv movies. I just go in there when the movie is done, and I find the next movie for her to watch.

Mine was on Aderall for awhile when he was 17 or so. He tells me a couple of years ago that it made him suicidal. Why he didn't tell me then is a mystery. As he grew, Dr changed drugs. Now he is on slow released ritalin I think. He said these drugs affect/effect? everybody differently. The hardest decision we ever had to make was to put our son on drugs at 9 yrs old...but it was like night and day

I hope this works out better for you than the mobil home place

He has been thru the list of ADHD drugs. Started when he was a kid, also. Ritalin made him aggressive. I'm trying to remember what he used to be on, as a kid/teen? *D*.... D something. The prescription had to be in triplicate. It was one of those highly controlled substances. He choose to not be medicated, for quite a few of his early adult yrs. He didn't think he needed it.

He's been on this Aderall stuff for a few yrs now.

As far as the move... I don't miss that place, or the people one bit! I'm sooooo relieved to be away from that hellhole, and the low life people.

My son just left for work at 6pm. He will be home around 5am. His job allows him a lot of freedom. He can leave for work at 8am, 3pm, or 10pm. As long as his truck is loaded and on the road by midnight, it counts.

First. welcome tho you have already " introduced" yourself by previous posts. Maybe I am just crabby due to more rain<sigh>. but yes, we are a close knit community in the ladies section. You are rather dismissive of the amazing women here and what do you really "know" about us?

I have a 10 and 7yo twin boys......and I am 59 1/2. And yes, I birthed them. At home. With a midwife. I am a single mom, I have a small hobby farm and a diary cow. My oldest kid ( 43) is ADHD. I teach 18th C domestic skills, I spin, weave, dye. sew, quilt, paint, train dogs including two service dogs for me as I am a crip too, woodwork, cook, can and preserve, Have won awards for baking, fuse and slump glass and do lampworking. I have also been a pilot for 35 years. I have raised and used the fiber from....angora rabbits, angora goats, cashmere goats and alpacas. I have taught breed studies on 100 of the 252 breeds of sheep. I shoot quite well. I am an accomplished rider and many other sports. Even with a bad hip.

So yeah.....we women of the " Ladies Section" are just a wee tad more than kids and "monthlies".

Eh, we're a pretty elastic knit, too. Just elbow your way in-- you'll fit.

Yes, I hear you on the ADHD adult kid issues. My hubby(35) and son(8) both have it. It's... entertaining. He's a really great engineer. Beat all the odds they gave him when he was a student struggling to keep a C average.

And if he had to keep this place by himself?? It would go to Hell all week, and be marathon-cleaned on the weekends. Until he had to work Saturday, or they had somewhere they had to go.

It's sort of humorous around here anyway. He's ADHD, I'm HFA. It's either squeaky-clean, or barely contained chaos. In our defense, it hasn't been unsanitary in about 15 years (about the time I got pregnant with our oldest and realized that parents weren't allowed to live in a pigsty).

You can't fix them. They're not really broken, just themselves, so I guess trying to "fix" them is unkind (sort of like trying to make me into a social butterfly-- ain't gonna happen). Nagging them to do this, do that, change this, do that a different way-- it doesn't work. It just makes them angry. Mine finally learned to pick up after himself when I spent a year living with his parents and it was do or die.

I am stopped at that light. 7 streets between light and where I live. Wouldn't you know it stops at the last 5 of them to drop the kids off. Boy was I frustrated. And it was snowing. Finally made it home.

Thanks for asking. Let me just say that the ballroom is 2 steps back<sigh>. However.....it will not defeat me<smile>. I decided to needlepoint it. I should get it finished about the time the kids' send me to The Home<smile>.
