Hey,
So any of you guys have small gardens? You say small subdivision, are you aloud to target shoot and have some livestock? How much land do you have?

We can have gardens and live stock. People do shoot out here. There is also a range a couple of miles from us. I’m retired military, have my FFL, and spend my days building/repairing/restoring firearms.

Most of us are on an acre and a half to two acres some bought additional tracts and have 5 acres or more. No HOA. No Crime because no one knows we are here. One way in, one way out. Only one liberal in neighborhood as of right now and they mind their business and are nice enough to say hello to.

That sounds nice, you don't have a huge amount of land individually but you guys as a collective have a good community. Other than the one logically challenged neighbor it's quite workable.

Have you reached out to any of the neighbors? They can all be conservative but like my brother and brother in law, think prepping is just a stupid hobby I have.

I’ve talked to one who is a constable. We had a community get together where at one point he explained that we have around a 30 minute response time and that we are on our own.

We talked about doing something, the two of us, but it was just that, talk. With the temperature cooling down, I’m gonna build a few raised gardens and plan an area to build a chicken coup(neighbor behind and beside me has chickens) so at least have farm fresh eggs. The worst thing we’ll have to deal with where we are in the mean time is the meth community about a mile away. Most of us already have cameras and game cameras set up.

I read a book, I think it was a Joe Nobody one, where there was a neighborhood that banded together to deter the zombies. They had one entrance and were surrounded by a lake in the shape of a horseshoe.

Don't stop talking to the constable, he could be a valuable asset. People will look to an authority figure if the SHTF. Slowly build some relationships. In a neighborhood we lived in 13 years ago, I organized a poker night for the guys once a month. We had about 10 dudes who were always there.

Now I'm 2 miles from my lone neighbor. I thought the guy was a conservative as he told me once how much he hunts. Then I saw a stupid Beto sign in his yard so I've never talked to him again.

Our daughter is in 4h and has about 80 chickens. We have so many eggs!
If it were just my wife and I (3 years to go) we would have maybe 1/2 a dozen hens and 1 rooster. She has about 8 roosters now, don't get those if you're in a neighborhood or if you like sleeping past 4am.

When you say meth community, do you mean 1 house with maybe a handful of tweakers in it or a whole bunch, or multiple houses with many?

What is good about meth heads is that drug totally destroys their brains. They will have a hard time trying to "Figure" anything out. Most assaults/acts of aggression, will be spontaneous with little complexity. There won't be proficiency with firearms. Not to say they won't be dangerous, but a medium amount of prevention should be able to repel them.

Naw it’s a neighborhood, several run down trailers, place is a mess, stinks....they will become zombies.

80 chickens!?! I don’t think we’ll have that many. 8-10 maybe. But good on her for taking care of that many chickens. I can’t get my kids to go outside....
