Do you have a favorite quote that is related to preparedness? I’ll start this thread off with a few of my favorites:

A lack of prior planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

The difference between adventure and disaster is being prepared.

When it does hit the fan, it will not be evenly distributed.

Last minute preparations are like learning to swim when you are drowning.

Courage is being scared to death, and saddling up anyway. -- John Wayne

Failing to plan is planning to fail.

Don’t prepare to survive the bad times, prepare so that you don’t even notice them.

On-the-job training doesn’t work when you’re dealing with survival.

Rat is a lot like duck, except with a wonderfully nutty flavor. -- Cody Lundin

Prepare today, live tomorrow. Do nothing today, die tomorrow.

Chance favors the prepared mind. -- Pasteur

Have a backup plan - Two is one, one is none.

Adversity can lead to the discovery of strengths that you did not know you had. -- Al Siebert, in his book, The Survivor Personality

What can you add to this list? Maybe a favorite line from a movie or book? Or, a signature line you saw on a forum? Or something someone said that is quote-worthy?

The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve our condition.

Obstacles are opportunities to test ourselves, to try new things and to triumph. The obstacle is the way.

Better to have it and not need it rather then, need it and not have it.

Shot placement is not important, when the caliber is big enough.
The miss can be better than a hit, when the caliber is big enough (it tenderizes the meat without destroying it).

Those, who would trade a little freedom for safety, will not have either, and deserve neither. Benjamin Franklin

Those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it. George Santayana

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Chicken Little

Run away! Run away! Monty Python

Run in circles, scream and shout. U.S. Army.

FUBAR. SNAFU. BOHICA. Also U.S. Army.

Si vis pacem, para bellum (In peace prepare for war. In war prepare for peace). Unknown, possibly of Roman origin. Sometimes misattributed to Sun Tzu.

And...
Noah and the ark, found in Genesis 6, 7, 8, and 9, KJV

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

and the rest of the story in Genesis 7, 8, and 9

And being prepared to stand in the evil day in Ephesians 6:11-20, KJV:

11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Maybe not what you were looking for, but many of the responses I see in threads here remind me of the George Carlin joke about other drivers on the road. The preparedness version would be:

"Have you ever noticed that anybody less prepared than you is a f**king idiot, and anyone more prepared than you is a f**king maniac?"

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." - Thoreau

“How to Overthrow the System: brew your own beer; kick in your Tee Vee; kill your own beef; build your own cabin and **** off the front porch whenever you bloody well feel like it.”

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

All things in moderation
A bird in the hand is dinner
All societies are three square meals from anarchy
Wipe! (in reference to canning)
If you really want someone to learn about prepping, take away their toilet paper.
If you can't eat it, wear it or use it for warmth, use it to catch food, protect you from cold, or trade it for food or shelter, it is worthless.
Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
