Default "Hi cap" .22LR options?

Advertise Here

Just because I want one.
Kel-Tec came out with the P-17.17 +1 rounds,3 mags,199$MSRP,but impossible to find.
Tarus has TX22,think its 16 rounds?
Can't remember,but think I saw a few that were 12 rounds.
Most everything else in a "traditional"semi-auto design is 10+1'

I'm not the greatest on net searching,so toss me a bone on what else to search.

pmr30 is on my wish list, but even before rona,I limited myself to only 1 purchase this year, other priorities.

Thanks all

Look at the Kel-Tec CP33. That stand for Competition Pistol 33 for 33 rounds that it holds. Good Luck

i avoid Taurus completely, the quality sucks and from what i hear their customers service is terrible. ive had 2 Taurus in the last 10 years and they were just crap.

i have a Ruger Charger that uses any mag that goes with the Ruger 10/22, so , from 10 - 100 round mags if you like. i have a Simmons pistol scope on mine but a red dot would be good too. if you go with a red dot, may i suggest the Truglo 2X if you want to save money. ive had one on my 10/22 for nearly 20 years and its still great.

if you like you could buy a pistol brace for it, just dont put a handgrip up front as it would make it NFA.

I can mod my S&W M&P22 from a factory 12 +1 rounds to a 16+1 capacity with a Nic Taylor magazine kit.
Should be pretty easy to find a M&P22. Kel-Tec CP33 is just butt ugly IMO.
If you want an inexpensive plinker there is the Mossberg 715 pistol, 25 round mags.
I have the 715T rifle and mine has been reliable and fun to play with. In no way a AR trainer or substitute. Just fun with HV 22 ammo.

They have a large listing of handguns and are helpful when trying to narrow down a list of candidates.

Thanks all!
I have the moss plinkster-thing is a hoot to shoot!
Those taylor ext seems a viable option-they also have it for the GSG firefly...Hmmmmmm.

That cp33 caught my eye,but was looking for a more "traditional" style.
As far as Tarus,I have a couple revolvers, they work fine..but it seems hit or miss with them..hard to go by internet reviews.People are quick to post negative experiences, just human nature.Less people post a when they are happy and things work, because thats what you expect.

I own several Taurus guns. They had quality issues in the 90's and the bad reputation they got has followed them. They fixed those problems 20 years ago. I have no problems with any of my Taurus guns.

I purchased a "Tactical Solutions" .22LR Conversion kit for my Glock 22. It came with 15 round magazines. I have since purchased a P80 "80%" frame. After assembly I now have a dedicated .22 pistol. It works for me.

In my state, the factory M&P 15-22 rifle has 25 round mags.
I bought some 10 round mags the LGS was dumping at half price, knocked out the pins, and now have 5 25 round mags.

In a .22 pistol...I really can’t wrap my head around “needing” a pile of rounds. I have other more powerful guns for high volume shooting between reloads, my .22 pistols are more for the single shot isolated close range stuff, like ending suffering.

I too sometimes travel to restricted states. As such my “traveling” handguns have capacities of 7 rounds or less. My wife has extended family in NJ and NY so when I visit I have limited capacity and ball ammo to make it less troublesome to cross back and forth.

As a retired LEO I have no carry or possession issues but must adhere to other state laws. Last I checked I understand the max of 7 rounds in a carry magazine under the NY State SAFE ACT is in flux depending on interpretation and court cases. As such I take the SAFE 😇 path and simply have smaller capacity. NJ still has the prohibition on hollow points so I use semi wadcutters for bullets in the carry pieces.

For those who wonder I have a Glock 36, Kahr PM9 and a variety of S&W “J” frames for the northeast. The .22 in the trunk is a Henry AR7 Survival Rifle with 3 8 round magazines and 100 rounds of CCI mini mag solids.

I shoot a lot of 22 with my family. Our new favorite pistol 22 is the Taurus TX22. I liked it so much I bought 2 of them. That being said, I don't own any other Taurus product. I have Ruger SR22s that have just been collecting dust. The TX22 is literally too good to shoot another 22 that isn't practice for your full size. The TX22 operates exactly like a full size.

For rifles, Ruger is as good as your going to get until you drop big bucks. CZ makes a great bolt action if you're into that. They make 22 rifles that cost a few thousand dollars and I'm sure they're great but not for me.

I also bought 2 SW AR15-22s. Me and the kids love them. All the AR fun and operation and cheap to fire all day.
