Default handgun-mag in the grip name

They say there is no stupid question,I feel I should know this, but drawing a total blank.
Was searching for hi-cap .22lr handguns, more than the traditional 10+1.

Saw several that just looked like cut down versions of rifles, the mag in front of the trigger instead of inserted in the grip.

Like I said,I'm drawing a blank,is there a technical word or phrase to decribe the 2 different styles?

I'm trying to come up with options for the tradition style,in the grip.Came up with kel-tec p-17 and Taraus TX 22,any others out there more than 10 rounds?

Double stack magazine is probably the term to search.

https://nationalinterest.org/blog/th...e-planet-25857

"The Kel-Tec PMR-30 actually holds thirty rounds (of .22 magnum) and does so with some clever engineering that reduces it to a lightweight package attractive to casual shooters, backcountry shooters, or people interested in a firearm for home defense."

S&W 15+1 .22LR

Kel-Tec 33 round .22LR Quad Stack.

It sounds like you are describing a short barreled rifle (SBR) vs a handgun.

I could be wrong, I frequently am.

JMHO, YMMV

Your not wrong, not an SBR,but like aN AR/AK pistol, its just a manafactured pistol, based on the rifle.

I purchased a Tactical Solutions .22LR conversion kit for a Glock 22, .40 caliber pistol. It worked great after a break-in period and I have since put it on a Polymer 80 frame I built for a dedicated .22 pistol. The magazines hold 15 rounds of .22LR.

I also recently purchased a Glock 26 frame with some well done custom work for my Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit to make it a dedicated .22 pistol as well. It should work with the Tactical Solutions 15 round magazines. We will see.
