If you have it and you like shooting it so what? I have My AR, AK, and whatever else and I still enjoy taking my pellet rifle out to mess around with. Who cares.

Is my 15-22 practical? Not really, even for AR training, but it's a fun rifle and I enjoy shooting it. Many people shoot muzzle loaders so go find a group of them to demean. Your immaturity isn't welcome.
Not a knock against the gun. It's reliable and relatively accurate. Just a personal pet peeve against the "but it looks cool" mentality. Apologies all around on that. Old range habits coming through I guess.

But I'm still going to point and laugh at the range along with the others.

Exactly. Labotomi mentioned muzzle loaders. I take a lot of flack at the range for my traditional muzzleloaders and handgonne. I just laugh and shake my head. That's what it's all about.

one note for anyone who has the GSG5 SD model. the ATF has decided that the fake can, is in fact a supressor, and requires a tax stamp. there should be more imfo on ATA's sight.

anyone else have one of there .410 AR uppers?
Actually, the ATF requested the fake suppressors be exchanged for a type NOT basically a suppressor. The reason is because the original cans were hollow inside with no barrel sleeve. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to drill holes in the barrel and have an honest sound suppressor. ATF KNOWS people are out there building ****, but I suspect they don't want to make as easy as opening the box and having all the needed components to create a suppressed weapon.
BTW, the shroud issue has NOTHING to do with the basic GSG-5/522 as a survival weapon...but them some people just got to chime in whith OLD NEWS.

I spent a few weeks up in northern Kali on a friend's ranch a while back.

His girlfriend (hot Reena) had a GSG 5--and this thing was completely bitchen.

If you want to train cheaply with an assault weapon--and you want to run through tactical drills and so on.. this is the weapon to do it with.

I've been thinking of getting one of these for keeping my eye in on the cheap.

I've heard that the screws holding them together are a bit weak / prone to stripping and ought to be changed for one of the screw kits available. Is that true?

How rugged is the rifle? It looks a bit flimsy to me - and the fact that the company that make them are steeped in airsoft products kind of makes me wary.

I ride my motorcycle to the range so I like the compact aspect as I can put it in my violin case - same as I do with my Saiga AK47. Don't like to freak out all those cagers en route.

assault weapon i wasn't aware the 22lr mp5 had a selective fire option on it?

Pretty interesting i guess if i had cash to spare it might be fun. But really i like the Marlin 60 might not hold 30 rounds but its a good small game rifle and shoots damn well. I just can't justify spending 600 bucks on a weapon that wish's it was the big brother.

Not knocking the weapon at all or the user. If you got the cash to spare and thats what you enjoy doing.. More power to you ya.

I had one and it was a very fun little gun while I had it, but I eventually sold it to help fund a Sig p226. It was actually a really accurate little gun and I got great groupings with it, but the construction did feel cheap.

A few months ago I bought a Henry repeating rifle .22 and I am actually more happy with it. It only holds 17 rounds but I like feeling like a cowboy using it.
