Will a G19 holster work for the 48 ?

I almost bought a G48 at gun show, went back to get it but another old man got it.

Ended up with an M&P40 but the 48 is still on my list to replace my EDC(Shield9)

(As a retired LE, I have to recertify once a year and 50 feet is the max distance.)

The winner was the 9mm Luger 115 Grain JHP Hollow Point Fiocchi Ammunition - 9APHP.

I also qualified with my EC9s, with 124 gr. Aquilla FMJ. (just barely at 50 feet but by then I was getting a little tired.)

I used to use the PPU JHP 115 gr but it is out of stock at all the places that I use online and, of course, Wally World no longer has it.

At 30 feet and under, everything performed very well. I especially like the Fed aluminum but they don't prefer aluminum at the departmental range.

Anyway, I'm think the Fiocchi - 9APHP is now my new EDC for the G48.

Question for the OP.
I know you said you haven't shot it yet but I am wondering how 5 more rounds affects the balance? Have you noticed a difference?
Honestly, if you blindfolded me I couldnít tell a difference. I will shoot it this weekend. I wanted to shoot it today but it was pouring rain. Itís about a 400 yard walk down to the creek where I shoot behind the house so I passed. The road it to muddy to drive down.

[QUOTE=Marlin94;20057358]Since when does a shield hold as many rounds as a Glock 26?

Sorry, should have said with a 10 round extended magazine...oh course MagPul then makes the 12 round nearly flush magazine for the 26 so not a fair comparison.

Well, 300rds with zero malfunctions. 100% lock back. Only complaint is the mag doesn’t drop free when locked back. I forgot to take Gold dots with me but I did take PMC, Remington, blazer brass, wolf, and federal.

interesting that it doesn't drop, did you get a metal mag catch yet?
Assuming the factory mags still work normally.

Shield claims that you can put a few wraps of painter's tape on a mag, heat up the grip, and jam the mag in. When it cools the well will be opened up just a smidge and they should drop free. They say that Glock ever so slightly changed the frame of the 43X/48 which sometimes causes issues.

It's on their website somewhere.

It drops free when the slide is closed. But itís not a big deal. I donít carry extra mags with me. Once my 15 rounds are shot Iím out of the fight.

We all slice the apple differently. My standard now, as it has been for years, is a full pistol and two reloads. Back in the revolver days, that was 18 rounds. Now, it's significantly more.

Can you pull the mag out while the mag release is depressed or do you have to drop the slide with the slide release?

There is no way that Iíd carry that magazine without upgrading the mag catch. Otherwise it is just a matter of time before it destroys the mag catch. Conversely once you install the metal mag catch it will be just a matter of time before it destroys your factory mags. IMO the G43x magazine situation is better left factory. Carry a reload and be done with it. You should always carry a reload anyways because 2 is one and 1 is none and the magazine is the most likely source of failure in a pistol.

My Glock fanboi cousin is now carrying a Sig 365, 10+1 in the gun, 12 in the reload, night sights on it, has a red dot ordered.

He sold the 48 that he had.

What do like most about the gun ,more comfortable to CC ?
Or do you like the way, it fits your hand.
I have a Glock 17 Gen 3 I like the gun, but I wish the handle was a little smaller .

Random fact of the day...

Q: Do you want to know how you can spot someone who knows absolutely nothing about guns?

A: when they refer to the grip of a gun as the handle.
