Default Tacticool Marlin lever action

Advertise Here

Iím wanting to turn a Marlin 444 into a tacticool rifle.

Has anybody done this? Where did you get stocks and fore-ends? Iíd like to have some kind of folding stock, but Iím not sure itís even possible given the lever action.

A folding stock on a big bore lever gun?

I've been a big bore lever gun fan most of my adult life and came to realize some years back that some things just can't be explained.

Once you destroy the lever gun, er, I mean modify it, can I come and watch you shoot it at the range? I will provide the popcorn.

There really is not much after-market for this
As is, lever-actions are pretty good for social purposes

I have a couple of the newer Mossberg 464 SPXs and they are picky on ammunition feeding
Really like the adjustible stock
They failed on the rails in my opinion
Right now, they are not bet my life reliable, but they may get there
They seem to like heavy bullets
If I can feed a super heavy sub-sonic cast bullet reliably, I would be a happy camper

Not all of us take a grinder to a gun to make changes ... when done properly they can always be reversed if needed.

I think converting it to a simple "takedown" would be a better way to go than trying to bastardize a folder on it.

The forearm in the pic doesnt look to be the best way to go either. My hands, back, and a few other spots on my body hurt just looking at it.

I tried "scouting" a couple of Winchester Trappers in the past, using an XS rail, Leupold scout scope and an Aimpoint red dot, and found what I liked best and worked best, was simply a good ghost ring rear sight.

Everything else just took all the handiness/usefulness out of the little guns.

Some things are about as good as youre going to get as they come, and just best left alone.

Im glad to see the youth of today buying lever guns thanks to the Marlin Dark series, but honestly for the life of me I dont see how these tacti-fool looking guns are better than the 100s of thousands of Marlin 336s and Winchester 94s that rode around in trunks and trucks in every town from coast to coast
Heck in my day if you wanted to make your Marlin 336 better you just put a 3-9 scope on it. That was perfection!

The thing that sticks out to me on that one is the threaded barrel, and I just happen to have a Hybrid 46..
Need to get my 1895 sent in and threaded. Def cheaper than buying a new rifle.

Talking

Tacticool Marlin so far.

It gets some raised eyebrows at Cowboys action shooting.
