The difference is a little more than 5,100 votes with 100% of precincts reporting. I donít think there are many absentee ballots outstanding.

Kentucky doesnít have a law that automatically triggers a recount. If he wants one, Biven will have to convince a judge to order one. They campaign would also have to pay for it. Itís a good bet there will be a recount.

Itís also a good bet Kentucky will have a new Governor.

I'm glad I got out of VA almost 25 years ago. I hope that the Dems don't mess with concealed carry laws and reciprocity.
I also saw that the woman who flipped off Trumps motorcade got elected to the Board of Supervisors for Loudoun County, which is just across the state line from me and where I used to live. She mentioned working on "gun-sense" laws in one of her statements. The rest of the Board is still R, though. Between that and the preemption laws I don't think a county can do much damage there.

I think that's probable. It will be interesting to see how he reacts when/if the new AG starts challenging his 'initiatives' in court or the overwhelmingly GOP legislature passes bills despite ineffectual vetoes.

Glad we passed 'Constitutional' carry last year.

Looks like all the socialists in Louisville, Lexington and Frankfort and maybe a couple of other bigger cities, got together and swung the vote.
Whatever TENNGRIZZ said is probably right, though I don't fully understand it. Teachers are usually great people, but often get brainwashed into swinging Left.

looks like you nailed it, and thanks for informing us about him from an actual insider from Kentucky...and not a news source.

Don't worry if there is a recount plenty of uncounted ballots will magically spring up from nowhere. All in favor of the democrap as usual.

What the main stream leftist media avoids mentioning is that except for the governorship the rest of the positions up for election in Kentucky went to Republicans by landslides.

Republican Michael Adams easily won Secretary of State; Republican Daniel Cameron won the Attorney General post; Republican Mike Harmon was re-elected as Auditor; Republican Ryan Quarles was re-elected as Commissioner of Agriculture, and Republican Allison Ball won the election for Treasurer.

It would appear that Bevins was pretty much a scumbag and even being a Republican backed by President Trump wasn't enough to get him elected governor.

Be that as it may, Kentucky remains a RED STATE!

It sounds like Blaze653 had some good perspective about why the people didn't like him enough to cast a vote his way. If what he's saying is true then it comes as no surprise to me, especially with how many people want that "Free stuff" the leftists always promise. That being said, what you posted is the real truth behind the curtain the news medias refuse to discuss. That state could elect a complete socialist as Governor but if their state is run by the right wing he will get exactly squat accomplished for the leftist agenda. Great post!

Were those other 5 positions that the GOP won previously held by the GOP or did they flip any Dem seats? I know Kentucky is Red, just don't know how red they are.

I'm of the opinion that there's no chance Kentucky doesn't vote for Trump in the presidential election (he won by like 30 points in 2016) but it is kinda embarrassing him to rally for Bevins and have him lose the next day.

I also like the spin by the RNC that the Trump effect had both Bevins and the Mississippi GOP candidate going from double digit deficits to narrow loss/win.

They said the polling was "internal data" which means "we can make up whatever we want".....I just find it really really hard to believe the MS GOP Gov candidate was down that much in the polls.

The Attorney General position was flipped. Cameron is the first Republican Attorney General of Kentucky since 1952.

The numbers that you can examine below speak for themselves. The Dims got their asses handed to them in Kentucky. If Bevin wasn't so hated by everyone the GOP would have taken the governorship easily.

Thanks. And she, believe it or not, given my personality. LOL!

As concerns the teacher's pension thing... this is tough to explain to people used to politics elsewhere, but I'll try.

Outside of Lexington and Louisville, most people you meet here are socially conservative, including K-12 teachers. In our educational system, you pretty much have to go to colleges and universities before the preferred flavor of politics amongst the faculty turn into "mouthbreathing progtard". Before college, most students don't get that much leftist crap shoved down their throats in the schools here.

Even within some of our university towns... remember Kim Davis? She was the clerk of Rowan County, and the largest town there and its county seat (Morehead) is a university town.

In some ways, Bevin's attempt to screw with teacher's pensions was unpopular because the state is conservative, not in spite of it. We don't automatically see K-12 teachers as enemies and "progtard corruptors of the youth", because here, leftist teachers are the exception and not the rule.

This is compounded by the fact that in much of this state (particularly Eastern Kentucky), for years, teaching was one of the only ways a woman could earn a decent living. (Due to how physically demanding the labor is, a comparative lack of upper body strength, etc. women usually didn't last long in coal mines or other such jobs.) And when I say "a decent living", understand that I mean "a decent living" by Kentucky standards, which in this poverty-stricken state translates to what would be called lower middle class elsewhere, not some kind of lap of luxury or high on the hog thing.

And before anyone asks, no, I'm not a teacher. I don't have the patience. LOL
