Some sellers on eBay say they have thousands of hours of radio broadcasts on CD. Are there radio archives where you can download for free?

Some have old country from the 40's. Others rock and pop from the 70's. Here are 2 samples:

Dr. Demento has an archive where you can stream for $2 a show. (I think.) I got a R/R tape the other day in an eBay lot that had a Dr. Demento show that was previously on the reel but title had been scratched out and audio copied over with garbage.

I had forgot about Dr. Demento. I used to listen to him in the 70's / 80's in my darkroom in L.A. Seeing the R/R tape reminded me of him.

Not sure about all the music types but I listened to the whole Wolfman Jack series (many times on 8 track) when I was a teen a long time ago...

He was the first thing I thought of when I read the OP’s post. Love that guy.

I suppose, just like the old movies and tv series, they’ve remastered them and put them up for sale..

Greaseman on DC 101 FM is a favorite of mine! Listened to him on Z93 in Atlanta Ga every morning.

The people selling them are most likely in radio or were at one time. They steal stuff all the time from stations when they leave and they all try to make a quick buck with it if they can. Radio people are slimeballs.

That's exactly where the home burned cd's being sold on Ebay come from. I have a 2TB Harddrive I filled with old time radio from that and other sites. I wasted a lot of time on Youtube just to discover that most of the old time radio shows on youtube are copied from the Old Time Radio Project.

This page is a little easier for old time radio since it lists them alphabetically. Still maintained by the old time radio project, but I was born (1966) after the golden age of radio I only knew of the ones that my mom and dad talked about and a few other ones.

https://otrrlibrary.org/

But the site dude listed has a lot of other stuff as well.
