Default Article on NRA denounces its "very scary" agenda

Here's an interesting article on Alternet, an ultra-Left website, that denounces the NRA and it's "scary agenda":

http://www.alternet.org/right-wing/n...scary-wishlist

The author is "Matthew Rozsa .... a Ph.D. student in history at Lehigh University and a political columnist"

Of course, you cannot expect a pro- 2nd amendment article from a Liberal site like Alternet. But I think it's good to read something like this once in a awhile---especially the reader comments---to give gun owners an idea of what mindset exists in the anti-gun rights crowd.

A couple of reader comments do defend the right to bear arms. However they get the smackdown real quick from other readers.

Apparently, they see us all as a bunch of wild-eyed Rambo clones, ready to blast anything that moves.

The 2nd Amendment is treated as a "technicality" that doesn't really guarantee firearm ownership.

There are also attempts to make a sinister connection between gun ownership and religion. Apparently, to the Leftists one is as bad as the other.

I simply cannot understand why the Left/Liberals have such antipathy towards gun ownership. They simply cannot seem to tolerate people having the freedom to defend themselves, that a firearm provides.

And they absolutely won't stop until every gun in the country is melted down for scrap.

Liberal thought leaders hate guns, especially things like ARs and AKs, because it balances government power. In other words, they hate it for the exact reason it is there, because they want unlimited government power.

The majority of liberals, however, are "useful idiots" on this subject and simply think "oooh, I don't have a gun, I don't want a gun, guns kill people, and military guns belong on the battlefield, why would anybody want a military style gun unless they wanted to kill a bunch of people??!?!" Nevermind that ARs are used in far fewer crimes than Smith & Wesson .38 Special revolvers and Mossberg shotguns, they don't get that far into thinking about it. For them, it's a few buzzwords and a gut reaction.

I'm not too worried, the disqus rules are very wide open (just due to how it is used) but I did find it funny when the moderator felt it necessary to post a comment on a five month old discussion no one was following anymore.

I have a feeling the 'snowflakes' all made reports against me.

I'd say your quote must have hit the mark. Alternet is known for chilling-out posters who don't tow the party line.

No, those are the morons who would tell a scumbag with a gun that they would rather be shot and killed than defend themselves. I've heard that line of horse exhaust from enough of these liberal moronicos to realize those are the people I avoid.

Seriously - I asked one, if they had a gun (enter horrified look on their face) and someone went to rob them what would they do - their response was to give the gun to the bad guy and ask them not to harm them...

HOW do you even reason with such people?

Did that article refer to suppressors as "weapons" or am I reading it wrong?

Bottom line is that you can never trust a person who refuse to take responsibility for their own safety, and who would happily deny others their natural right to do so. If they've gone that far, there is no limit to where their philosophy can take them. Have a look at the outpouring of love for a certain murdering communist dictator this week, and reflect on exactly what that means.

Of course, I have friends and relatives who fall into this category. But there is no sense in which I have blanket trust for them. Information is tightly controlled in their presence. Gun control (and a few other subjects) can be a useful litmus test.
