Default First Frost

Had a little frost on the ground here in Wisconsin the last two days.
This evening they say it will be colder.

How do we define first frost?
I ask because it is supposed to be 60 next weekend.

74 F current temperature to hit a low of 68 and a high of 84 tomorrow. It is finally starting to cool off. Likely we will get a frost about the second to third week of Nov or maybe later. NW FL zone 8b. With luck my bananas will be ripe by then. Citrus: My oro blanco and kumquats are still green. I need to check the satsumas. the asian persimmons are just about ripe. I do not miss the winters of the middle west.

Leave out plants that'll be killed by frost.

You'll know.

Just Google for "average first frost date" for your location.

The average first frost date for where I live is around the first week of November.

However, we have a freeze warning in effect tonight and may even set a new record for cold on this date. Guess we'll know in the morning.

Frost can creep up on you. I'm in no imminent danger, but have been hit with one years back in early October that wiped out my garden in 1 night.

I'm out every day picking things so I stay on top of losing too much. I have mostly hot peppers and the thai peppers are coming in strong. Each plant has over 100 peppers on it.

We had ours a couple weeks ago.

I define it the same way nomad does.

Yep, our first frost last night. It was expected, but it reminds me, I'm really not ready for winter.
