Default Where to locate 4F BP online

I'm not able to locate FFFFg BP locally. Though I am still looking.

Ordering online seems to be the only alternative, but the few online stores that I've found that do offer 4F, require more than just a one (1) pound order. I suppose that I can order other types of powder, but few carry the Triple 7 FFg and FFFg BP substitutes that I choose to shoot, and the other merchants are charging outrageous costs.

Given the fact that I only go through a 1 lb. can of 4F every few years, it makes little sense for me to order 4 pounds.

Does anyone know of an online store that will allow the purchase of just a pound of FFFFg BP?

It depends, Track of the Wolf is a good source but they have a min. case quantity. However I believe if you order a case you can mix the order, ie 3-4f,10-2f, 12-3f, etc.
Do you have any mt.man clubs nearby, give them a call, share a case order?

If you want this to prime the pan on a flintlock, I suggest you simply use the same powder as you use for the main charge. I prime with 2FG.

I have used 2F and 3F BP a pinch, but the ignition takes much longer. As I have a supply T7 that I got at a really good price, I'm not that keen of using it for such.

In any event, I found a guy with 8lbs of 4Fg in stock, an hour drive from me, so I purchased 2 lbs today. A couple gallons of gasoline is much better than paying the additional $35 in hazmat fees.

It's not worth buying 1LB online. The hazmat charge will be more than the powder.

Graf's has the best prices but the minimum order is 4lbs.

What state do you live in and what is the nearest city?

I grind my own priming powder from 3F. Just put a little in a glass bowl and crush it with a spoon.

I've done the same in the field when I realized priming flask was empty, drop 10-15 grains into powder measure and grind it with long end of bullet starter.

Keep in mind when looking locally that BP is required to be kept behind the counter. You have to ask for it.
Seems like the last can I got was from a Bass Pro or Cabela's.

Again, ask around and put together a bulk order with others to break up shipping costs.

BP stores forever if kept dry. My favorite fake BP is American Pioneer. 777 hang fires for me every time. Annoying small delay between cap and bang, even with an RWS Musket cap.

The local muzzle stuffer club has powder at good prices, much better if you are a member.
