Default VEPR 308 muzzle brake

I have got a new VEPR 308 rifle, 20.5 in barrel, with front site on the gas block. The barrel is supposed to have 14x1 LH threading. Would it be safe/ok to put a standard ak47 7.62x39 muzzle brake on this rifle?

Thanks

Yes, but those rifles have a longer-than-normal threaded section of muzzle. Most standard AK devices will bottom out and leave threads and the barrel shoulder still showing. It isn't dangerous or anything, but it is unsightly. One solution is a small ring that someone makes over on the AK files which covers the remaining thread. Another solution is to find a device with a longer threaded section. I know for certain that CNC Warrior's "Conical AIMR" device is long enough in the threads to snug all the way up. Many others will not. You may want to contact CNC and ask about the thread specs.

check out Canis Designs out of Texas if you're looking for a stock adapter. They have items specific to the VEPR square back platform. As Capta posted, check out AK Files Forum, they have a forum specific to VEPR which addresses issues relating to VEPR .

If the .308 has the same AK style thread it should be good to go. I put a Tapco muzzle brake on my VEPR 7.62x54R. It was cheap but most importantly it's working very well at taming the beast.
