Living in Southern ID, will be here about 9 more months before the big green weenie moves me somewhere else. Have had trouble getting out due to work and family stuff, but plan on hitting the hills and ghost towns once it starts to warm up a bit.

I am from way up North of I-90. I like long walks on the beach, poetry, and good barbecue.

We are not in Idaho yet, but we are looking. I am in NorCal right now and working on getting out so my wife and I can be Americans and not californians any more.
We are looking at the Eagle area or someplace like that so I can keep working as needed once we move.
I'm an experienced GC who builds safe rooms and bunkers and I also coached wrestling for 6 years.

Shoshone County. Out in the backwoods. Bugged out a few years back and still getting everything up and running.

Whenever I think of a "prepper" idea, I ask myself if they would have done it or been able to do it in the 1880's. If it's a no, then I don't do it.

Eagle is very nice but is pricey. Lots of traffic in a small area too.

You'll fit in fine in the Eagle area, and while traffic is heavy by Idaho standards, you'll find it delightful. And you'll definitely find work in that area as a GC.

We looked at Eagle, but like you said, it is pricey.
Right now we are thinking more near the Emmet area or even much further East near the border with Montana. Not a lot out there except for govt work though it looks like.
We do appreciate the input though.
If we ever get allowed to travel fully again we will be making a trip this year to see the different areas in different seasons.

I only have two issues with Emmett. If there is smoke in the area it will be trapped in the valley. Poor air circulation with Emmett (which is why there was a radiation problem way back when) and the other is the main road out. In winter it gets pretty slick and it is steep.
