Have you checked out the Greek surplus available from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)?

They offer a couple of different options, but the cost is $0.50 per round, plus $8.95 for shipping a "spam" can. I've used it in a variety of rifles and it works well. The web site gives warnings about the risks of buying surplus ammo, but I've never encountered an issue with them.

The CMP also sells other ammo.

You can check out a their ammo sales here:
http://www.thecmp.org/ammosales.htm

While you're there, check out the Garands, M1 Carbines and other surplus rifles they have for sale.
http://www.thecmp.org/

(web site a a little slow today...)

re: comparing to...
That's pretty funny, but I guess you are right. I was a little surprised at the price, considering I picked up a couple spam cans last year from them for much less, maybe $75.

What's even worse, though, is seeing those same spam cans at a gun show with a $50 mark-up.

You should have gotten it when the price was reasonable, but most people were complaining about the price of .30 cents a round back then, too.

Stick around, for this is no lie: the game is just starting to get interesting.

If you want in on it; take care of yourself, learn another language, stay out of trouble and do well in school.

As for shooting, use a .22 LR I should have done a lot more of it when I was a teenager and sincerely regret not using it more. Get one of the AR-22's.

I have a .22 conversion for my Colt Ar

The accuracy isnt all that great, but its fine for training purposes

I'm also getting more into german, and trying to move past the 'conversational' stuff, into the real language.

It was either german or Spanish.... and i dont feel like accomodating any illegals
