I tried to scrape a small 1/4"-1/2" section off the spine (to strike a fire steel) of my 5 using a very sharp BHK Cavalo and it didn't work so well. I had to take a file to it to get any semblance of neat coating removal. Whatever that coating is made of should be in car paint. That stuff is tough as nails.
