Can anyone give me their impression of the Mossy 930 spx. Cool looking gun. Been offered one in trade, so any insight would be appreciated.

thanks

I've only had mine out once, but I like it so far--it gobbled up everything I fed it--from light target loads to 00 magnum loads.

I'm also considering getting the camo finished hunting model also.

I have one and I would get another one if I could. No problem with it at all.

A great HD shotgun. Just run a couple hundred shells thought it to break it in if it is new.

i guess it would depend on what you are trading for it. kinda need to know what the details of the trade are before anyone could say if it's a good deal or not.

Been offered one for one of my Wichester 94s...not so concerned about "value" as both guns "book" about the same...just wondering about funtionality. My current HD Shotgun is a 500 18".

Thanks for all replies...going to gun show on saturday to complete the trade

Default 930spx

Let me just say that my Mossberg 930 Blackwater is the most kick ass shotgun I have EVER owned! It feeds and fires everything I've fed it. I started my shotgun ownership with a winchester ranger 120 12ga. Along the way I've had mossberg 500's remington 870 12ga's and one of my favorites, my saiga 12 modified. The saiga 12 is my runner up for my favorite shotgun but it trails behind my 930 blackwater by a long way. My first outing with the 930 was exciting to say the least. My saiga required changing my gas settings a few times between 12ga birdshot and high powered OOBuck. The blackwater 930 required NOTHING! This thing has a new mossberg valving system thats second to none. If anyone wanted an autoloading shotgun for home defense or just having a great time the 930 is the gun to have.

ps....I have to buy a second one for my wife as shes spoiled!

Is there a heavy duty version and basic model like the 590 has? For example the 590A1 is high end.

I have a 930 SPX with the 3rd gen heavier barrel, its a nice light and well balanced shotgun, functions with everything i have tried in it so far, i havnt tried low brass in mine yet, but dont plan to.
recoil is fine, firing regular buckshot is kinda like shooting a slug from a 20 ga pump gun,
the 3rd gen has the blackwater chraging handle, which is really nice, no need for a nordic bolt handle.
i must say, other then my fn slp mk1 tactical, the 930 spx is one of my favorite guns
it just functions every time
