Not on anyones ban list.
Lots of parts available.
If it quits working you can use it as a club or a boat anchor.
You can't use modern 3006 in a Garrand.

It's a heavy weapon with limited potential and by the end of ww2 was a relic

Agreed, although it was badass in its day

Schuster adjustable gas plugs allow you to shoot modern .30-06 in a Garand. I agree that it is a heavy rifle though its use isn't really that limited if you can carry it.

Huh I have not heard of that. Also, no, not a troll. Im a 27 year old truck driver who lives in Salt lake City and who likes cars, computers, and has a few side hobbies.

I decided to start looking into prepping about a month ago, after catching myself up on politics and this absolute Joke of a president we have.

Its like literally watching a movie. I can't believe we went from first black president, a massive step, to freaking TV shows in real life. What a disaster, it CANNOT be over quickly enough.

Started researching, and amongst the research I came across CanadianPrepper on YouTube. Genuinely all around good guy from the looks of it, with realistic strategies for surviving the apocalypse. He can even be funny sometimes, his channel is great and in my opinion, the best I have come across.

I don't think having a socialist for president was a step up no matter what color he is.

Eh he wasn't the greatest sure but he certainly wasn't the worst, and I think it shows us that the USA is pretty much on complete equality at this point for all races

While just about every president in the last 50 years has eroded our personal liberties, Trump is not exempt; however, I think you're underestimating the Democratic Left's radical socialist agenda and their disdain for the Constitution. Trump is far from perfect, but he's by far the best POTUS option to we've had in a long time who has called out the radical socialist-left's agenda and destructive identity politics.

I can understand disdain for his personality, but if you can't see the different between what Trump has done and what the Socialist Left wants to do, you're politically ignorant. I don't mean that as an insult, but we just have a large swath of Americans that are simply clueless when it comes to understanding basic civics, the dangers of socialism, the purpose of capitalism, and that we are not a democracy but a representative republic.

I just encourage you to do a little more research into politics like you did your OP efforts before spouting the MSM talking points. Again, disliking someone's personality is fine, even pointing out disagreements in policy are fair game (such as the stupid ban on bump stocks and support for red flag laws), but just avoid the myopic and even irrational comments of the "never Trumpers" and radical socialists on the left. I apologize for deviating with my soap box, but I've heard similar comments for several years from those who simply regurgitate a false narrative based on a radical ideology (and that's from both sides).

Welcome BTW and keep us updated on how your selection goes. Being a trucker puts you in the unique situation where not only should your prepping involve your home, but a unique focus on "getting home" while on the road.

Weapons at ready, safeties off, rounds chambered, covering eachother, clearing rooms in a standard police fashion. If they come across a Zombie, they holster their firearm and use a bladed weapon to keep from wasting ammunition and attracting other Zombies with arms fire. The Firearms clear method is used in the case of an armed individual.
You need some real training, not TV or even watching the fringes of a police raid from across a courtyard. People who have a clue what they're doing, do not clear buildings like the folks in the Walking Dead. They're using hazardous, bumbling amateur bull**** tactics, not "standard police fashion".

You should buy a good, compact semi auto pistol and a quality AR 15 and make getting to some good training a top priority. The first few years you should be spending at least twice as much on training as you did to buy those two guns. Internet research is nearly useless and often detrimental when a person is coming at it without a good, practical, hands on basis in the fundamentals.

Well since this has evolved into just a make believe thread can someone recommend a good paracord wrap for me to make muzzle leashes for my norwegian dragons?

I get that point of it. However the asking price of a clean one and the ammo is rather high. A lot of them had issues towards the end of the war within the model changes.

It's a 8 shot fixed magazine rifle with a powerful caliber. However when put against a modern ar10 for the same price. I feel you get a lot more rifle then just a nostalgic feeling most get with a 1911.

Just about EVERYBODY else, to the grateful thanks of Jimmy Carter, thinks that Obama has been the worst president in the ENTIRE history of our nation. When the overall majority of people think Obama was the worst, maybe you should accept that idea.

last night of work for me lets make this interesting..........

OP sounds like the love child of all the characters from the walking dead tv show. Sword, crossbow etc.......... I would suggest a good wheel gun and a bat wrapped in barbed wire.

after SHTF you will be facing "an indigenous population of humanoids called the Na'vi. They're fond of arrows dipped in a neurotoxin that will stop your heart in one minute."

One minute is plenty time to build a hasty fighting position. return fire, call in air support, pass off a six dig coord to a member of your SHTF crew, and maybe even rub one out. One minute is an eternity for a soldier.

If you rub one out during SPIE rig extraction you could save 15 seconds while returning fire.

A cart is defiantly one route to take, and has it's share of disadvantages as well.

Here is an idea of actual weight in ammo that was mentioned before.

500 rds of 7.62x39mm = 18.75 lbs
1000 rds of 22lr = 7.5 lbs.

Total = 26.25 lbs

Note: The above weight is looser ammo only. No magazines or any type of packaging, containers, etc....

1 quart of water = 2lbs not counting any container weights.

Now add the weight of the rest of that combat guru load up......

Food
Supporting equipment ( LBE for exp. )
Pack
Duffle bag
Firearms, mags , Suppressors, optics, etc....
Body armor
Crossbow with x amount of bolts
Night vision with spare batteries
A frickin sword....( In case he fights off ninjas? )

Oh well..... To hell with a plan for logistics I suppose. .

.................................................. ............

On another note.....

Thier is no logic or " realistic" sense in using a science fiction TV show to learn anything remotely resembling this topic. Common sense should prove this for anyone who utilizes common sense.
It is so ridiculous that it is not worth debating to the point it is funny.
That is my point.

More important........Folks that prepare accordingly won't be forced to scavenge for survival in the first place. Ie. .... " Scavenging" has Nothing to do with an actual logistics plan from the outset. In reality, that type of strategy has too many risks involved to make it viable, would use up plenty of calories/ water during the undertaking, and all for the off chance that something of value might be found if all goes well thruout such an endeavor.

ON to the SWAT story...... ( I would be interested to know exactly where in the springs this actually happened as well as when this actually occurred.)

A highly skilled and cohesive team with support such as S2, survelience, another force on scene for outer cordon, etc......vs......an unknown number of drug dealers......

.....And they took on casualties.

However........( and unlike a small group living in a post apocalyptic world), they also had a fully functional hospital less than 10 minutes away)

Note: Penrose hospital is on Nevada Ave, and also very close to I25 in the springs.....so what op claims as the " ghetto" is about 5 minutes away via an ambulance ride when they don't have to stop for red lights.

That is the important point missed by the op as well. ( A few Ifaks don't cut it folks, as they are designed and equipped to keep us grunts breathing until the 9 line is fully executed.

Better use of computer research time is in order here...... Imho.

When I backpack I figure 1.5 pounds of food per day. And that's lightweight food, not heavy MREs.
