Florida is laden with rules and codes.
Anyone gotten permitted for unconventional building in Florida?
I have considered digging a pond to put a sailboat on.
Touche, code enforcers!

You can't fight city hall unless you are rich. Move to place that has less gubernment. If you live in a cess pool it does no good to complain about the smell and the turds.

The building codes in the north and western parts are less restrictive in general.

Why the pond? U don't need a pond to park a sailboat on ur property, unless there's' rules about vehicles. U might even have to make sure registration is up to date. Locally, a unlicensed vehicle can be red flagged/towed if setting on the street, covered if setting on ur property.

The EPA would Probably get involved or some environmental group would sue you for disturbing to natural habitat of some bug or say your lake removed to much grass and trees and is upsetting the environment.... blah, blah, blah....

I design buildings for a living, been at it 25 years and dealt with damn near every state. Florida isnít near as bad as CA, WA, OR, AZ or WI.

I deal with non-residential buildings so the codes are different but I can highly recommend you not try going around them or taking shortcuts... nothing worse than a ****ed off code enforcement guy

Something like 30 years ago 1/3 of the contractors in seattle moved out because of city regulations.

Florida at I4 and south are like kommiefornia east. The Floribama shore is still America.
