TOUGH TIMES for many & no end in sight.
Itís dangerous to be right, when the government is wrong. The price of freedom can be seen at your local VA hospital.

Yet, every company I know is hiring.

Many are refusing work while the teet is engorged with free cash. While it will run out shortly.

We have a very similar problem in my current AO. I do believe that the consequences of this percentage of unemployment will be far greater i.e. much more lethal than the nasty Chinese flu. If there is any upside to this, it's going to be to self identify the people who don't want to work regardless, and separate them from the people who want to work but can't. That does not mean that things will work out well; but I suspect it will provide a degree of clarity that so far, many of the people who want to work but can't, failed to acquire because, they have had heavy indoctrination into the Church of Virtue-Signalling.

Going to get super ugly here in Paradise, Alaska. And I fear it will last a long and painful time. People have already started the migration to perceived better survival locations.

I retired in April, it was getting too squirrely there for my liking of how they handled the virus. Yet they are constantly hiring. Production is down, buy they want to get those milestone payments coming in.

If you are in the service industry, good luck with many businesses closed down. One kid down the block made around double his normal take home pay with that $600 icing on the cake. He had to go back to work a few weeks ago or he would be terminated.

Default Today's Employment Report

The official government employment report was released this morning and it was much better than anticipated. In summary:

Non-farm payrolls rose by 4.8 MM in June, much better than the 2.9 MM figure expected.

The unemployment rate fell to 11.1%, also better than expected.

Leisure and hospitality sectors accounted for about 40% of the gain in employment. Retail jobs rose by 740K, education and health by 568K and manufacturing by 356K.

The number of Americans temporarily laid off fell by 4.8 MM to 10.6 MM.

Average hourly earnings fell 1.2%, probably due to the re-entrance of more lower paid workers to the labor force.

The labor force participation rate rose to 61.5% which is only 1.9% below the February level.
