Can anybody recommend a source for 80% lowers? Looking to hear some first hand experiences, not just the typical google results!

Also, how have you done yours- drill press, router and jig, hand drill and jig, etc?

I've recently been looing into the 80% frames and lowers and was quite surprised at the depth of frames and lowers available. I'm thinking about doing an 80% gun as a project or setting one of the advanced kits (all parts + 80% frame/lower) back as a hedge against worse case scenarios.

Noreen Firearms are excellent 7075 80% lowers . small bites, sharp bits.

80% ARMS GEN2 Jig or the Multi Jig (if i did it again I would go Multi, does .556, 9mm and 7.62) easiest to use, top notch rig.
CORE is another Excellent 7075 80% lower and does have the tension screw so you can adjust you lockdown. as far as poly,
Tennessee arms, they put brass inserts in the threaded areas, excellent castings never any porousity bubbles
another is JMT James Madison Tactical. excellent mix, well braced, brass insert in grip screw

80% arms lowers are decent, they have a cast in trigger guard, and are a lil easier to cut being 6061.
good lowers

their sabre single stage trigger is excellent as well.
tennessee arms you can do any finish they offer, you can even do a heat polished clear

ive only done their std .556 and 7.62 , never messed with the clear.
Noreen Firearms excellent forged and billet

ive cut and built everyone of these. same jig. mines a Gen 2 for 556@ 9mm, Glock Gen2, and for 7.62 is a DIY armory jig

I did the same, bought some lower blems and used a drill press with an anderson jig.

take your time, don't get in a hurry. They turned out great.

I spend more time trying to protect the jig because I don't want to wear it out. Once you get the lower properly marked and started. The rest is easy. Just go slow, let the drill press do its work.
Much faster using a router jig. I know a couple guys that have them and love them. Plus they are getting cheaper now if you don't already have a drill press.
