Here in southern Indiana and bye the way, in the Ozarks, my folks liked to plant potatoes on or as near good friday as possible. They just did. We always had a good crop. My father would buy a #100 gunny sack of seed potatoes for cutting seed. I've seen the sprouts up 6-8" and a FROST was coming. We would hill the soil up to the top of the sprout, Saved em all.
