I don't know, looks like people are scared of this and are moving around.

Don't want to either jump the gun, or scare anybody reading Survivalist Boards too much.

But when you see this news about ebola around the same day as news about these Congo migrants reaching the US and SA--- it just goes to show how tough the world situation is, and how smart we are for being preppers.

So far only a single lot of vaccine was produced, and that was in the US. Merck has since closed the plant and is still not operational in Germany...

https://www.devex.com/news/cdc-director-expects-to-run-out-of-ebola-vaccine-95056

We actually want to vaccinate geographic areas where we can’t function because of the insecurity. Unfortunately, there’s going to be a six to 12-month lag before there’s adequate vaccine supply, so we do project that we are going to run out of vaccine,

Yeah, the 5 year old has died, and his grandmother and 3 year old brother tested positive.

So 3 cases in Uganda but the same family.

They were suppose to be moved to an ebola facility in Congo, but they "escaped"/fled to Uganda instead.

The news article states that the health official Mwebesa believes that the the cases are isolated and will not spread beyod the patients family.

Here is the latest I can get from my client on the ground, MSF (Dr.'s w/o Borders)

EBOLA IN UGANDA: Two people infected with the Ebola virus have died in Uganda, the health ministry said Thursday, after a family exposed to the disease quietly crossed the border from Congo. Uganda health ministry spokesman Emmanuel Ainebyoona confirmed the death of the 50-year-old woman overnight. Her 5-year-old grandson was the first confirmed death from Ebola in Uganda on Wednesday. The boy’s 3-year-old brother also is infected. However, according to MSF, he was returned to Congo for treatment under an agreement. MSF further informed me this morning that at least 92 persons, mostly health workers ON THE Uganda Congo boarder, got into contact with the victims and are all under observation but so far no symptoms of Ebola have been registered from them. Source: (MSF Head office Kansanga Uganda)

Would be nice, as it would raise awareness, and it should happen the longer this drags on, also it would increase funding from various groups... however they have since denied this 2x, one of them was already after it crossed into Uganda. So, not going to hold my breath :(

A little more local info.

b. Source: (MSF Head office Kansanga Uganda, 14 Jun. 2019). Dr. Charles Olara the director in charge of health services at the ministry of health in Kampala, has said they will carry out ring vaccinations of the contacts of the Ebola victims and other non-vaccinated frontline health workers. Uganda government says it can handle Ebola and so far there are no restrictions to movement and business at the border. (New Vision, Pg. 1 and 4, Thur. 13 Jun. 2019).

They were sent back over to the DRC. The 90+ people they suspect came into contact with them are being treated with some kind of preventative drug and monitored i believe.

I think I posted that in one of my previous posts. Would have to go back and read through.
Monitored how, though? From experience with Ebola so far, that usually means we send them off to do whatever they want with instructions to call and report themselves if they think they've got Ebola. Hell, we found one on a cross-country flight and another on a cruise ship at one point when we decided they might have it, and that's with the US version of 'monitored.'

And this poses a problem for the continued response efforts from the WHO...

WHO’s funding needs for the response are US$98 million, of which US$44 million have been received, leaving a gap of US$54 million. The funding shortfall is immediate and critical: if the funds are not received, WHO will be unable to sustain the response at the current scale. Other partners are also facing shortfalls that have led some to reduce or stop operations. The response risks being driven by decisions related to financial capacity rather than operational needs.

And this is why it will not go away any time soon

Residents of Kericho jammed the county referral hospital, where a suspected case of the deadly Ebola virus was reported.

Instead of avoiding the hospital, where a woman had been quarantined after showing symptoms similar to those exhibited by Ebola patients, curious residents rushed to the hospital eager to see the patient.

They jammed the hospital's parking space, pushing and shoving to catch of glimpse of the patient, oblivious of the fact that Ebola can easily be spread through contact.

Local update:

1. Security Situation Report (SSR)
a. MINISTRY OF HEALTH IS IN NEED OF 7.5 MILLION DOLLARS FOR EBOLA OUTBREAK REPONSE: The Ministry of Health is in need of $7.5million (about Shs27.8b) to respond to the Ebola outbreak in the country, which has since claimed three people from Congo who were at the border in Uganda. Mr. Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the senior ministry spokesperson, said the money is only enough to facilitate the western district of Kasese, where the haemorrhagic fever was confirmed early this month and not the whole country. By press time, Uganda had not registered any new confirmed Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) case in Kasese or any other area, although there are medical staff contacts to the confirmed Ebola cases in Kagando and Bwera, who are being followed up daily. We've kinda gone from a kitchen fire to a fully engulfed house, to the neighbor's house catching fire, and now we've reached that part where embers are blowing everywhere and the entire city block is on fire, residents are running out of their houses on fire and diving into their neighbor's homes, and there's not enough fire engines to deal with them all so you're trying to figure out if you should just order a mass evacuation and try to get everyone in the city to run.

New case confirmed today near the South Sudan border. Victim is a forty year old female who'd been identified by health officials as exposed to ebola and advised not to travel. She had then traveled North over 500km from Beni to Ariwara near the South Sudan border. This is the second incident of long distance travel by ebola victims in a few weeks. Had this woman travelled 500km East or South instead of North she could have arrived in cities of over 1.5 million people. I have a horrible feeling this is being allowed to steadily and inexorably spread and spiral out of control and could fairly quickly overtake the West African outbreak in both number of victims and geographical extent.
