Play around with that a bit and you'll quickly realize you are not going to get that kind of distance with UHF/VHF, especially with a hand held.

how about getting a PO Box in town, and use that to setup your ham license? Perfectly legal to do so, and then your address isn't anywhere with Uncle Sam (that it already isn't that is)
